Not sure what you are laughing at, but to answer the question yes.
so you made and designed this yourself?
The design has been around for awhile. I did have to figure out what the dimensions had to be. Zero5672 actually made it.
i have tha same one:tup:
but its only rated to 800hp :mamoru:
and u need to giveme a ride in your car for a pull
…tim wat did u end up doing with the head situation?
Shit, my catch can is only rated at 200HP. Gotta upgrade for faster times.
he is laughing because there is no real formula to equate how much horsepower you are making to how much blowby gasses are getting past the rings.
it depends on a zillion things. type of rings used (ie gapped or gapless like a total seal) endgap size, cyl wall finish, condition of pistons, coolant temp, afr etc.
there is no HP rating for a catch can.
im curious about that baffle in the middle. it looks to me that all the lines connected to the upper section would directly vent to the filter area with no means of separating the oil mist from the blowby. i would want some kind of labyrinth or stainless mesh to capture the oil mist and allow it to drip to the bottom instead of exiting out the filters making a mess.

I bought a GSR head. I have a complete B16 head for sale 350 obo
Catch Can Size = (torque X RPM) / 5252 is a false statement?
Wow - you just blew my mind. Thanks for setting me straight
Monkey see monkey do
Monkey buy $250 catch can?
Maybe that money would have been better spent getting a RETUNE when you CHANGED TO A TOTALLY DIFFERENT TURBO?
I made my own can for less, that was the point you missed.
I see I have to really watch what I say with some of you guys. So lets start from the top. No, there is no horse power rating formula for a catch can. But it does need to be proportional to the set up and the blow by anticipated. I’m using the formula “Bigger is Better” for this! I was simply trying to explain and shorten what Tony says in is description. I miss spoke. And I thank you all for pointing it out.
On the retune subject, that’s a long story and I never really went into it on here for a few reasons. But you are right. When changing a turbo its recommended to have a retune done. If you want to make jabs at me about something you don’t know the whole story about, please come to Olean and I will fill you in.
I have never claimed to know it all. And if you have fallowed this from the start you would know this is my first project and I have a lot to learn. I simply do what has been done before. Everyone knows nothing about this hobby is cut and dry. There is also allot going on that I haven’t posted so some of you think my priority are out of order. That is not the case, It does make it hard to want to share when the smallest thing you find wrong is instantly attacked and pointed out. I have parts on the way, I have parts I am trying to sell so I can buy more parts. I also have engines at the machine shop being worked on.
I did have the correct parts the first time, and I am focusing on the aspects I can right now. Tuning is the most important part of this game and that is the part I neglected, lesson learned, but thanks for throwing it up in my face. Like I said earlier there is much more to the story.
Shit happens…
What I’m getting from this all is- if I don’t know what im doing don’t post. Sorry for trying to help those other guys who don’t have build threads and who have been learning from my mistakes.
/thread
this is my favorite build thread, keep it goin man  i’ve learned a bunch just by sifting thru all of this and have gotten ideas for my car as well
 Looks good, glad to see things still rolling along.
I guess this is no longer the right place to learn about cars. It’s unbelieveable how many people bash you in a DIY build thread. Everyone has to learn some time. I guess you’re just not supposed to share it with the other new people to help share your experiences with them.
i wasnt trying to be a cock. i did have some legitimate concerns with the design of the catchcan. id much rather chat about the facts concerning the situation than make fun of you. if you knew everything about blowby then why didnt you just say “yeah i know” rather than getting all irritated. seriously
I like your build.
Brian
lol dont even bother replying to the haters
everyone makes mistakes.
for a first build, u did fine.
FWIW the way the T1 and shrek’s catch can was designed was so that it could fit snugly in spot the battery usually is.
the baffle looks ok, u can stuff it w/ steel wool or whatever if u want, but the main thing is relieving the pressure, if u lose some oil mist, oh well…just check ur oil level and u know the underside of the hood will never rust
it wasnt u, it was brent strong being a douche lol
keep with it shrek. its looking good!!!
i saw my name in the quote there and i was like “whatever, green bitch!” lol:grouphug:
