Shrek:
I made my own can for less, that was the point you missed.
I see I have to really watch what I say with some of you guys. So lets start from the top. No, there is no horse power rating formula for a catch can. But it does need to be proportional to the set up and the blow by anticipated. I’m using the formula “Bigger is Better” for this! I was simply trying to explain and shorten what Tony says in is description. I miss spoke. And I thank you all for pointing it out.
On the retune subject, that’s a long story and I never really went into it on here for a few reasons. But you are right. When changing a turbo its recommended to have a retune done. If you want to make jabs at me about something you don’t know the whole story about, please come to Olean and I will fill you in.
I have never claimed to know it all. And if you have fallowed this from the start you would know this is my first project and I have a lot to learn. I simply do what has been done before. Everyone knows nothing about this hobby is cut and dry. There is also allot going on that I haven’t posted so some of you think my priority are out of order. That is not the case, It does make it hard to want to share when the smallest thing you find wrong is instantly attacked and pointed out. I have parts on the way, I have parts I am trying to sell so I can buy more parts. I also have engines at the machine shop being worked on.
I did have the correct parts the first time, and I am focusing on the aspects I can right now. Tuning is the most important part of this game and that is the part I neglected, lesson learned, but thanks for throwing it up in my face. Like I said earlier there is much more to the story.
Shit happens…
What I’m getting from this all is- if I don’t know what im doing don’t post. Sorry for trying to help those other guys who don’t have build threads and who have been learning from my mistakes.

me personally, i have learned a bunch from this thread.
keep it goin man, deffinatley want to see the progress
So all you guys here think that the design is excessive? Lets just put it this way…This system will always do what it was designed to do! No matter Shrek gets a V8 twin turbo. It will always work. And here is what it is…came out very nice if I do say so myself.
And here is his valve cover that I did for him.
He’s getting a V8 twin turbo? I don’t think that will fit in a Civic.

Catch can looks nice. The valve cover worries me:
There’s paint on all the threads, including those for the oil cap. Thread the cap in and out enough times and you will probably get paint in your oil.
Also, was the valve cover sand blasted to prep the surface before painting? If so, good luck getting the sand out of the internal baffling on the underside. Shake and blow it all you want…some will come out only when the valve cover is heat cycled. It goes into your oil, and smokes your engine.
You’ve made a costly mistake once already. I don’t want to see it happen again. Admittedly I hardly ever have a second to read this build thread so I haven’t read most of it, and there may be more that’s worrysome, but I read the last 2 pages and this stuck out.
Hopefully the valve cover was soda blasted for easy cleanup or something like that not likely to cause an issue.
Good luck!

Why not just vent from the block? There’s fittings they sell right from honda that take the place of the block plugs in the back of the block. This looks much cleaner and works more efficient as well. Thats what i did.
EDIT: Either way its a great idea to do it…Heres A few different ways that it can be done

actually its more efficient from the valve cover, the ports are bigger and its already baffled because placement on the front of the valve cover
2 -12an fittings off the valve cover should be more than sufficient as long as the can has big enough ports/filters

Thats true, i didnt think about the size dif. I was thinking about location. Either way its still a good idea to do…
