Shreveport, Louisiana ?

Anyone ever been there? What’s it like?

I know somebody down there. I’ll ask him what it’s like and I’ll post it. It might be a little while though…

I will ask my parents they have been there a few times.

I have some customers there. I can set you up with some of their AIM’s to answer Q’s.

I was born and raised in Shreveport which is just across the Red River From Bossier City. Wow, how to describe where ya live. That’s tough.

As for climate, it gets damn hot during the summer with an average of 10 or 12 days over a 100 degrees. The humidty is almost always high which makes it seem even hotter. We have mild, pleasant Falls and I’ve seen many a Christmas when you could wear shorts. January and February are usuall our coldest months and I’ve seen single digits numerous years. Factor in the humidity and it’s dam cold. Spring time and early summer is/can be pretty wicked because we’re located in Tornado Alley.

Lots of musical history in Shreveport along with a lot of great musicians. However, we are not like Austin, Dallas, or New Orleans. The entertainment scene revolves around the five casinos. Having said that, Bossier City just completed The Boardwalk along the Red River and it’s booming! Shreveport has something similar planned.

Still lots of racial tension in this neck of the woods and I think it’s about 50-50 as far as the population goes. Shreveport is growing and it’s growing fast with tons of new jobs. Basicly, if you refer to Shreveport, it includes activities in Bossier City as well. We get most of the major musical acts at The Centurytel Dome, we have a hockey team (The Mudbugs), we have a minor league baseball team (The Sports) and if you like to hunt and fish, we’re referred to as The Sportsman’s Paradise. We have several lakes within 30-40 minutes.

We’re located about 6 hours north of New Orleans, about 2.5 hours East of Dallas, and about 3 hours South of Little Rock.

Lots of old money in Shreveport and the Catholics and Southern Baptists have a pretty good foothold on things.

Cost of living is relatively low. $25K-30 a year is not bad for a single person.

Tit bars suck. We do have a new club in downtown Shreveport called Larry Flint’s Deja Vu.

We have great golf courses.

Southern women are HOT!

Anything else?

Aren’t they still a mess from the hurricane last season? I thought I saw a think on the news talking about how they were pissed because NO was getting all the attention while they still had a huge mess. Could have been somewhere else.
