Still fairly amazing. Dr. Chimel was fantastic, no sinus infections since surgery, no bad blockage.
Bumping this only because I’m slightly annoyed with Amherst ENT.
I went in to visit Dr. Chmiel yesterday for a follow up appointment/consultation to get cleared for MEPS for the National Guard. I needed a very specific and important letter from Dr. Chmiel to give to the MEPS doctor.
When I was in, he said he would get it taken care of. Assured me that he’d make sure it had all the correct points that needed to be made.
I went in today to pick up the letter. FUCK ME. It looks like a five year old typed it. Misspelling, grammatical errors, wrong date, etc.
This isn’t some bullshit letter for my own records, I clearly stated what I needed and to whom I needed it for. I expect a bit more professionalism from a doctors office.
/rant.
How’s the nose holding up though?
Ranting aside, it’s great. I haven’t had a sinus infection since the surgery. If I feel a head cold coming on (especially with these stupid temperature changes) I just use a neti-pot and it clears everything up.
If you’re even remotely blocked up, I’d at least go to get checked out. I had mine done a year and a half ago and the before and after is insanity. When they take the stints out you’ll spend so much time walking around amazed at what things actually smell like that people will think you’re tripping balls.
If they give you problems, maybe just type up your own letter that says what you want it to say and bring it in/ask him to sign it?
Just about 2 years since having this done. Not one sinus infection, no signs of re-growth, etc. So far so good!
If I feel a head cold coming on, a good night sleep and some saline spray and i’m all good.
This was a game changer for me.
Welcome to today’s medical community. My mother in law has been going for chemo treatments and my wife and sister jn law have to watch them like children. They routinely make mistakes and often screw up the meds.
Bump - Looks like I might be the next NYSpeeder to get this.
I’ve had a chronic sinus infection for going on 6 months now… can’t get rid of it no matter what I do; and my snoring is getting worse and worse again (got better for a few years after I got my tonsils/adenoids out in '07). Seeing the ENT in 2 weeks to see what they say. Always had issues breathing through my nose since I was a teenager; always had Strep, now always getting sinus infections… fun fun.
^Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Deviated septum at all? I’ve heard nothing but positive outcomes from sinus surgery.
Me?
Also, I retract my previous rant about the office. Dr. Chmiel met with me on Friday and wrote a new letter himself. The previous one was from the secretary.
Bump. Had this surgery plus minor rhinoplasty on Thursday. Day 3 of recovery. It’s like a bad sinus infection. Pain comes and goes. Went to dr. Sherris. He does not use packing. I have a cast on my nose for a week. Cant wait til its off.
The first couple of days is rough but after a couple of weeks life becomes much much better.
Did you use a coupon or something?
x2
What?
Seemed like he had so much going on that it was like some sort of “special” coupon deal. Guess I was trying to be humorous. Self fail.
