Sirius Vs. MP3

Ok so ive had sirius radio for a little over a year and a half now and as of lately ive been finding alot of the music is becoming overplayed. So I thought to myself should i keep paying the 13 or go ahead sell my unit/ with the home kit and get an ipod or something along that line. There used to be a variety of excellent choices to listen to, now i just find that i hear the same damn song at least 5-6 times a day which is still less then kiss who only will play the shit they are paid to at least 50x a day , the edge ive got no gripes over in fact i still switch over almost every day at 4 when i leave work. Or should i go the MP3 route ? Get a 4G ipod or something similar and unload my library of music onto that this way i can be in control of what i hear. I like the mp3 route also because i can rip the files off the cds i have put them on there an then stop carrying those in the car as well. Do any of you have sirius or Xm and find that sometimes you get sick of it and think about canceling the subscriptson?

Cliffs : Satellite radio vs MP3 which do you prefer? why?
possible FS thread in the near future

first off i wouldent get a crap-pod, creative blows apple away, and you get better sound out of using a mp3 player hooked to either aux in or direct. than satellite radio.

I prefer an MP3 player.

I like the idea of new cars coming with build in HD’s

or if i really want to get the best of both i could get a sirius S50 or the Stilletto , portable Mp3 receivers. But that still leaves me spending 13 a month. Its not the money part its the fact that satellite is slowly becoming like FM, one channel plays a certain genre but there are more then like 10 artists. Variety is the spice of life

I have both in my car well rather i have XM and my ipod…that being said i had the ipod long before i got XM an i thought it would be a waste but it was a gift, and i find that i use them equally.

Although in regards to sounds quality, being able to create your own playlists etc, XM or satelitte radio cant hold an Ipods jock strap… also the fact that you dont have to carry a case of cds is a nice bonus

ipod FTW get a headunit you can control the ipod with. my 7 inch touchscreen could control it and personal playlists are nice.

i most likely will not be renewing my sirius subscription after 3 years of having it…

unless i buy a car with it built in. no more fm transmitter for me.

Creative Zen’s > Ipoo

i love my sirius.

+1 for keeping the sirius radio

I end up listening to more talk than anything on my sirius.

Its nice to have lots of talk radio when your out on a long road trip.

The music is kind meh for the most part.

I only pay 6 bucks a month, I pay it a year in advance so i don’t have to think about it. I’m an addon on my brothers account.

i have sirius and im thinking about ditching it because the dock is beat quality of the sound is poo poo and stuff is overplayed for sure

see i knew i wasnt the only one who noticed the re-played out music. I hate censored music which was one of my motivating factors to get my to switch. Talk radio i try to listen to bubba the love sponge everday, but its like they all have strippers an porn stars on and im numb to the “shock” value they are supposed to bring. Im really debating it right now, I could just keep downloadin my music and go back to listening to the edge, S & R were always my favorite morning show , but now its afternoons an i can listen to the entire show. Satellite radio needs to figure something out, it seems like most subscribers that i know are dropping them an goin back to “free FM”. Its like the song “i fought the law an the law won” Satellite Fought FM , and FM is slowly winning people back even thou its one song an then 5 minutes of commercials.

My sirius receiver has a fm transmitter in it. The thing would not work at all. Not even with the thing held right up against my car stareo.

I had to shell out 25 bucks for a direct adapter, the quality has been pretty good with that.
