i was reasearching a little about satellite radio and i might get it for the long trips home from work. the only thing im not wild about is paying 10 bucks a month for the radio. i was thinking of getting a ipod w/ the fm transmiter so i can load a ton of songs and just use that instead of dealing with monthly payments. plus i can use the ipod for when i go running or go on trips in someone elses car what do you think is better ?
thats y i never got sirus or Xm … but i just bought a 4gig ipod like a week ago on ebay waiting for it to come in
I’d probably wait to see what becomes of the XM/Sirius merger. I have an ipod right now with a fm transmitter. Works just fine. It’s a nice alternative.
I’d rather have the sat. radio, but that’s me
I’ve owned 2 Ipod and always end up selling them, no matter how much music you put on your Ipod, you get tired of it, unless your always updating it, atleast with the sat. radio your getting a taste of different music (broad spectrum) and new music, not the same MP3s you listened to in high school. Well worth the 10 bucks, imagine what dumb stuff you buy during a month and the 10 seems like nothing…
i like both… However I have been using the ipod much more then satelite radio.
Are you looking for strictly music, or do you also want talk/news/sports/etc?
music news n talk i can do without. the ipod seems like a better alternative but i already have a mp3 player so i duno
well that kindve eliminates everything if you can do without music, news and talk
dohh i meant it doesnt matter if i have new music cause theres always the reg radio and i already have a 1 gig mp3 player so i dunno if the ipod is necesary i gotta read up on how much/many parts i need to convert to sirius
isnt your headunit in the grandma prix wired for xm already? all you need is the tuner?
mine didnt come xm ready i didnt get that option nor at the time did i have a choice
I thought all of the new style GP’s 04+ had the XM ready option built into their HU’s. Just needed the tuner installed
do the i pod. walmart has a really good fm transmitter for $25, made by schoche. i’ve used it and by far it’s the best i’ve used. i see these things daily and it’s a good one. i own xm and used to own sirius. i also have an ipod. if you can keep your music up to date with what you want to hear, more power to you. long story ending… go ipod. save 13 bucks a month plus activation and equipment
Hmm I just sovled this question today Ive got both…
in all honesty, the price of an ipod and accessories, about 250 for a good one, that gives you a year and a half of sat. radio coverage and the $30 it costs for a receiver, by that time you will be buying another ipod due to insane turnover on the technology…
but it all depends on how much you will use your ipod outside of your car, if its alot than the ipod might be more worth it!
I rather have sirius. but i like my IPOD for whenever i work out. well thats not verry often
i use my ipod all the time i couldn’t see spending the money for the xm in my car i wouldn’t ever use it
i dont know about the fm modulator my car came with a aux input so i just plug it in there
i have both,
The iPod sits on the seat while the Sirius Plays away,
and 1 word for you … Stiletto (sp) Thats sirius’s solution to this question. its an mp3 player AND sat radio all together.
both sat. radio companies are merging at the end of the year, so do some research either way.
I used my Sirius every day.
I never use my iPod.
The one MAJOR advantage to the satellite radio is that there’s always new music that you haven’t heard before. Every song on your iPod is something that you’ve put on there because you already knew about it.
