Rollerblading is so easy compared to the other 2. You can learn 10-20 tricks/grinds on your first day but when it comes to skateboarding you would be lucky to be able to ollie and pop-shoveit after a few months. I think it took me around 1-2 years just to learn kickflips.
You can’t learn 10 grinds in one day on rollerblades. And it certainly shouldn’t take 2 years to land a kickflip. I understand that you’re trying to make a point, but there’s no need to grossly exaggerate.

ok. First, there are a shit-ton of riders in buffalo who are FAR more interesting to watch than even a pro rollerbooter.

here’s how i look at it. When i fruitbooted in highschool, I was able to do a handrail within the first month. When I skated, I was never able to do any handrail that wasn’t at a park, when i rode, it took me about 2 years to finally nail a nasty handrail, but my first one was a 17 stair.

That said. Rollerblading is fucking easy, and all the tricks look the same. I know, I’ve done all three. How many different angles can you position your feet at and keep calling it a new trick?

POINT: Skating is WAY harder than BMX or rollerblading. I can’t believe anyone would even think to argue otherwise. Christ i used to jump over the lines in rollerskates at my 5th grade school skating parties. The first time i got on a skateboard, it was a few weeks before i could even manage to ollie over a single deck with any sort of consistency.

I agree skate boarding is def the hardest, then riding, then skating

i use to skate in middle school and a little bit in highschool and i was doing hand rails right away. my first hand rail was a 5 to 15 stair rail with a flat spot in the rail. took me 3 times to master it. it ook me almost a year to start doing hand rails on a bike. i quite skating because it was just way to easy and not challenging enough. i started to ride and loved the challenge. plus i loved riding rythmes at the trails.

all the bikers, wood pushers and fruitbooters should get together and roll out a crazy street session

HAHA that place was a shit hole, trust me. I slid down a ramp to get off it, and got dirty as fuck and cut myself on something…
My buddy had a 6’ high x 20’ wide mini half pipe in his back hard. When you fell down and slid you would find hundreds of splinters in whatever piece of skin touched the ramp. Gave me more inspiration not to fall, it was like that till we painted it and then it was all good.

for the Fruitbooter haters,

A bunch of guys are saying they did it and it was really easy so they quit. I knew a bunch of guys that did that and they all had no style and looked gay while skating. One thing about RBing is mastering a style to go with the tech tricks. All the guys that bladed with me were decent at it but started boarding because it was more POP. I guess they would rather be mediocre at something then good at something else thats not as popular. I liked doing both but loved the instant gratification of mastering a trick in a day that went with RBing. You might notice you have more fun when youre not hating on people… besides the people that are always in the way (use the coping as a seat)

i miss skating a i wanna borrow a pair and see if i still got it, anyone got a size 11?
oh wow… thats 1999 too… i heard they got much bigger…

I LOVED THAT set in the first picture… it was my first rhythm section  what was that like a 10 pack?

either that or it was 8 out and 8 back… or 6 out and 6 back (6’s seem short)

alrite since everyone is still arguing about this shit i’ll put in my totally unbiased opinion since i have been rollerblading for almost a decade. skateboarding and biking are much harder to begin learning because yes, you do not have things attached to your feet and have to learn to jump and manipulate your bike or board in ways you are not accustomed to. but, at the point where i am in rollerblading now it is every bit as hard as the other 2 sports. if i was skateboarding for just as long i would be killing flip tricks onto rails no problem. of course it is easier to do a frontside on a bike rack than to learn a boardslide but that is the most basic shit. i like riding with anyone but i do find that bikers and boarders always use the fact that their sport is “harder” as a crutch to talk shit on rollerbladers. the fact of the matter is that since we are more mobile and have skates attached to our feet, our sport has progressed to a level that i hope boarding and biking can reach soon beacause it’s awesome, but i rarely see it. we are far from park rats i mostly skate the rails at xw to prepare for street skating this summer. those pics will definitely change the haters minds about rolling. heres an example of why i think rolling is far from gay:

this second one i just posted for the last 2 tricks. if you dont care about tech grinds skip to the last 20 seconds.

I think my old K2 fat bobs are 11s, they need new wheels and bearings though. I was really good the last couple of years I skated but then I stopped a few years back. I tried some grinds last summer and I sucked  Maybe if I worked at it for couple weeks I could get some of my finese back.

I can still do all the flat land tricks I could do on a skateboard though…i dont get it either.

like i dont even know what is a good skate anymore

Watching pro inliners makes me sick, I could never get the balls to even attempt some of that stuff. K2 fat bobs were good back in '98 lol thats when I got them, damn Im getting old.

Why not? I didnt say I learned them all on handrails my first day. Just on a shin high rail and no I didnt step up on the rail and not jump onto like some bladers I see. Basically I learned all the grinds both backside and frontside (royale, soul, topside, acid, h-grind, x-grind, kind, makio, unitys, etc). Backside unities were my favorite because my other rollerblading friends couldnt do them.
Yes I didnt start doing kickflips and flip tricks until maybe after 2 years I started skating. I didnt really start practicing them until maybe a year or so after I started skating so it basically took me a year to learn em.
Oh yeah if anyone cares, OP skatepark is still snow covered.
Uh no offense to you but this is a retarded statement. The things being accomplished in bmx right now are ridiculous. Im not saying that rollerblading hasn’t changed alot over the years (I don’t partake in it so I don’t know) But to say it has reach some higher level than skateboarding/bmxing has reached is pretty dumb.

yea i didn’t specify i was mostly referring to street elements.

i’m jealous of how fucking high bmx can launch out of ramps. those things can gain some speed.

certainly can… I remember when the flair was a big big trick… now its fucking turn down back flips, barspin back flips. shit that shouldn’t be able to happen does :frowning:

No, now the big contest tricks are front flips and 720’s with tailwhips thrown in whenever.

Honestly one of the sickest things I have seen this past year is the last clip in This video.

god i miss that too. and pipe dreams wasn’t too bad. just watch out for the first timers and it would flow decently enough. the bauer box was always good for jumping the rail and attempting landing a grind. and the massive air on the wall to the second floor… i need skates again.

Again, I’m sure it was okay if you were a rollergayder, but for skateboarding, it was a giant piece of shit.

lol i had rollerblade chocolates

lol, at everyone trying to play rollerblading to the same level as skateboard. Ive also done all 3 and skateboarding is by far the hardest. Even on bmx you have handbrakes and handle bars to rely/hold on to. skateboarding takes alot of minipulation and coordination. Theres a reason why everyone in here thinks they are a pro at rollerblading. its because most of us probably could be.

put all 3 into a parking lot. Which one you think will be most interesting???

The guy on blades doing 180’s and 360’s??? LOL i dont think so. or how about the bike doing freestyle??? awesome! how about the guy doing 180 heel flips and manuels into flips etcetc. awesome!!!

this is why rollerblading sucks.

just my .02

thats funny i dont recall any one of us saying that they were a pro at rollerblading. we just enjoy doing it. i have personally said that i think it’s cool that skateboarders and bikers can just go to a parking lot and enjoy themselves. it is kind of a pain for us to always have to find obstacles to roll on but it’s never been a problem. and since everyone is so much better at their respective sports let’s see some pics of all you guys to back up all this rollerbashing.
