SKYCUDA

Ok folks time to unveil yet another new project and while I have some downtime of the Skyline and Barracuda I’ve made a serious start on this new one.
I’ve been outside for the last couple of days prepping the old 67 Notchback shell prior to takling the fiberglass molds, we already have the doors, cowl hood, front fenders and deck lid made. So now it’s just the main bit of the roof, door pillars and the rear quarters.
Hopefully next week I get my steel tubing to build the chassis jig, then the front clip from the crashed Skyline and the rear clip from the S13 is getting welded together!
Once the body is put together we’ll drop it on top of the Skyline chassis and start on the rollcage.
As none of you cheap bastards are buying the RB30 it looks like I’ll be using that block as the basis for the powerplant for this plastic fantastic.
I’m figuring this thing won’t weigh more than 2500lbs wet, not sure if I’m going to hook up the HICAS, but the ATTESSA is, I have the stock skyline suspension from my R32 and everything bolts into this chassis.
Best of both worlds, one of best looking 60’s muscle cars plus the modern technology of the R32 GTR.
I can ‘borrow’ the drag radials and the SSR rims from my skyline too, along with the stock GTR seats.
HTF I will get this thing registered and insured who knows??
But we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
If Brent will post some pics I’d be very grateful:biglaugh:

what do u do for a living?

He’s british…they’re crafty and are able to make money appear out of thin air. Either that or he’s started to take over small fledgling nations.

Registration will be easy, it’s not 60% from one place, it’s a kit car.

I might just use the Cuda’s VIN # and fender tag and hope that no-one notices???
As for a living er well that’s complicated to say the least, and we English haven’t taken over anything for a long time, we became very relaxed about that stuff and left it to you guys- tee hee.
Actually speaking of tea my mouth’s currently drier that an Nun’s wotsit…
I just sent some pics to Brent to post for me, doubtless I will come in for some ridicule over this particularly mad scheme, but what’s the worst thing thing that can happen eh??
Have a nice weekend, hopefully the big bad twin turbo hemi will be fired up soon and if my crazy mate who just got over from England can stay sober long enough to get in seat I’ll have some pictures of that bad boy too this weekend.
I think I need a bigger tub of Bondo, better get to Napa later

When the hell are you going to learn to post pics. It is so simple. on another sweet project.

Seriously though, go to www.photobucket.com , sign up for an account then all you have to do is copy and paste the pictures into your posts.

give me your skyline clutch.

or some money. i need it…

This shit’s gonna be off the chains tho.

I think you might have project A.D.D… hope to see it when it is done.

Mr N’ should have you covered next week, things have been -er ‘interesting’ around here. And the nice thing about having loads of parts laying around is that you can always find something to do!!!

You’re nuts.
I like it

Well I figure the Mopar Purists will have me hanging from a tree, and of course because it’s using the Skyline chassis it’ll be yet another right hand drive - yeah baby…
And the import guys won’t know what to make of it either???

Never did care for the purists. Unless is it ultra rare and has history.
Should make for a cool project. Curious to see what people would say on my site about it since it’s always a mixed reaction to stuff like that.

well having seen the RB 26 Skyline motor in Rustwang in FF3 this should take the concept several stages further…
And the core concept of hot rodding is to make the fastest thing you can with what you have, and I have all the bits sitting here and as a great philospher once said " take a chance , while you’ve still got the choice"…

What is it with you and pre-70 Barracudas and R32 Skylines? I mean, you’ve got like 353648302k of them

Another big project from the tweetster

Dunno Tom I just accumulated a load of parts by some strange series of events and it would seem that fate has had a hand in the creation of Skycuda, don’t you think.
Perhaps they will feature in FF4, maybe we make our own road movie, I could do with a change

nucking futs man awsome project

Hey, if you have any spare parts laying around from the '67 and '69, my buddy has a '69 notch that he’s been SLOWLY working on. He’d be willing to pick up anything you wanna get rid of.

Tom tell him to call me I have a BUNCH of stuff laying around taking up space, and in about a month or so if he wants a complete fibreglass body and all the panels - well I can help him out there too!!!.
Did anyone on here ever build a chassis jig, I know I haven’t- I’ve opted for using 4x2x 3/16th steel tube instead of I beams, the question is how long and how wide to make it? I’d figured on 16 feet long x 28" wide, then we can weld on whatever support bit we need to that main frame work.
Once I’m done with project Skycuda the jig becomes a long work bench to make fibreglass stuff on, I’ll simply drop a couple of 8x4 sheet of 3/4" plywood on top.
Next thing on the agenda is powder coating spray booth and an oven…

props for effort but you and carnut are starting an awful trend…
