this car will very likely not end up costing 100k unless its a very high end model.
It’ll prolly be around 60-70k at most for a base model, which is same power output as others, with a 6 speed manual, and 4 piston calipers.
For what it’s worth, the GT-R’s real competition is the 997tt. If it is even remotely close to the CGT times, it just might slaughter the 997.
I would buy one, but if the base model is supposed to go for $58K, and dealers are already marking it up to $75K, then fuck that
For the money, it will be a good car, and the aftermarket support may be such that you could buy a base model and upgrade brakes and power-wise into a mean machine. You are really only paying for transmission technology and weight savings with the other two models.
I think Nissan will surprise a lot of haters with this car.
The shootout I would like to see:
GT-R v.s. C6 Z06 v.s. 997 (GT2 or 3) v.s. new M3 v.s. newest Viper.
Bang for the buck (performance v.s. cost), my money is stil on the Vette, but if the GT-R can deliver on their goals it would be a viable alternative for those that can’t afford the more expensive cars like the P-car. As far as all out performer, it will be very difficult to beat Porsche at their own game, but not impossible.
that is sick, but the only real thing that i see is, theyre driving the gt-r to the threshold. while im sure the cgt was driven hard as hell to get that time, but im doubting they really drove the gt as crazy as they could have. i bet if someone that could really take that track and car could squeeze at least a couple more seconds out of it. im sure they put a damn good run in not thinking anything could keep pace
as much as id like to see the gt-r be actually that close, im doubting 7:28 will be the cgt’s final track numbers… expect to see porsche come back and REALLY take that car around the track
its been “said” that the same guy is driving both cars.
plus, if u have the chance to drive a CGT are u really going to not try for the best time possible? Thats what they pay these guys to do man, it makes the auto company look better. I highly doubt that porsche would test drive the car to less then its potential, then advertise the times.
People in this thread are really sack riding porsche pretty hard. I remember reading a road n track or some car magazine review of the CGT and them saying that it REALLY fell short of expectations…And i believe it.

i hear ya, im not saying the cgt is the end all of cars and performance, i know it didnt live up to all the hype, but what im saying is i dont think they drove the gt to the fullest potential just yet. its like that guy running the race who doesnt put everything into it cause he knows hes on top, no one can touch him. thats sorta the case (in my eyes) here.
im sure they drove the piss outa that car, but i doubt to full MAX limits like theyre doing with the gt-r just to catch the gt’s time. i wouldnt be surprised to see if porsche comes back and puts up a better time…
personally i root for the underdog and would love to see the 700k dollar giant go down, to a car 7 times cheaper, but im not going to hold my breath just yet…
also im not jumping on either band wagon, im gonna let the dust settle if nissan beats the time and see what porsche does to counter…
last 2 vehicles have been nissans
Maybe Porsche has already beat that time.:snky:
Yeah I love Porsches but at the same time do you think Porsche will be beat by Nissen in their own backyard?

Wait…what costs $700k?
CGTs don’t go for much more than 300k…

good call, i wasnt thinking, they run around 450 from what i found
If I repped Porsche Id set up a head to head at the ring.

It happened before with the earlier itterations of the Skyline, why do you think it can’t happen again? The Skyline made it’s name on upstaging brands like Porsche.

there is a huge difference between claiming the TT as its target vs claiming the CGT, I can believe the TT will be beaten, but I highly doubt the CGT will be
Why is there a huge difference? Their goal is to beat the CGT. While daunting, who’s to say it can’t be done? How much noteriety (sp?) and sales could Nissan garner if they actually do beat the CGT?
The difference is approximately 4 seconds over an 11 mile course? Hardly a huge difference.
Here’s another thread discussing times
Whatever the outcome this is great. Factories going time attack on their production cars to show who’s really got it. I love it!
for this car to even be in competition with the CGT is impressive, especially for 1/3 or better, of the cost.
Here’s an article I saw a few days ago I’d actually put stock in
But ever since the fanboys claiming it ran a 7:16 awhile back and all the GTR faggots running around claiming best car ever I wont believe a damn thing until AutoBild tests it.

I’ve already said it…

10 seconds @ Nurburgring is only a difference of 2%. I am willing to guess that is less of a difference than what seperates a professional racing field of “equal” cars.

Arctic sea creatures are taking a beating on this one, interenet racing melts ice caps.
So far this thread has resulted in the death of 7 baby seals and a horribly disfigured one, and a sheet of ice the size of Rhode Island falling into the sea.

its a huge difference because there is NO PUBLISHED TIME, only speculated time, most likely leak to caused a ruckus as it did here
How can you say there are no published times their are articles in magazines with…published…times?
Something tells me if Porsche puts a time on their website they didn’t just randomly make it up.
Even Wikipedia has a list of lap times for the ring listed with vehicle and driver.
Seems pretty published to me
Good that means less inspiration for silly animated penguin movies.

Find me a published/verified time for the GTR
/thread :bloated:
+1 It’s all speculation at this point.
