Didn’t read the whole thread, but I’m confused as to how a skunk2 drivetrain parts will bump your compression ratio to 10.9:1 :shifty

thats what i meant valvetrain, how are valves/retainer/springs/etc going to bump his compression ratio up?!

The shapes of the faces could be different?

Skunk 2 offers flat faced valves for my motor. The flat valves bump the CR up by about 0.3. So putting them in my motor will give me a Cr of roughly 10.9:1. Cams and valvetrain are still a ways off though. Need to get the basic stuff done first. After the 5 lug swap it will be heading to the body shop to fix the bumpers from this summer’s accidents and then the t-belt and water pump need to be done.

Building the bottom end of an H22 is an expencive venture. You cannot run a normal forged piston on this block. The sleeves are a special material that does not expand at the same rate as a forged piston. Creates all sorts of problems. So it’s sleeve the block or don’t run non-oem pistons. The only othert oem piston that will increase the compression is the H22 Type-S piston…which brings it to 11:1. I don’t see the point in tearing it all down, boreing and honing and all that for 0.4 more compression and no weight savings.

well that blows why not go with another easier/lighter platform…the h22 is a chunk isn’t it?

Only bout 40 lbs heavier than a b18, so no, not really a chunk. The prelude is a little heavy, but it’s not an all out race car but a street machine, so I don’t mind.

Haha, I wish I could have it done by spring, but thats doubtful. Paying for my education comes first. I hope to have it done by next fall though. (unless you guys want to start a ‘finish Jake’s car’ fund :tong) I’ll take you guys on (at the 518 drag meet of course :ninja), but only if you’re off the bottle K-20, lol.

I’m pretty sure you’ll beat me off the bottle even if I’m cammed. Lighter car, similar power. Benny will be a closer run tho.
