Can’t believe they didn’t have a back up plan, in case something like this were to happen…
Found this today…
Looks like progress is being made

interesting report on 60 minutes yesterday on how they suspected the blowout preventer had been damaged weeks before the accident but they decided to continue on anyway. They then proceeded to use an expedited process to cap the well that led to the explosions. There was also speculation that the amount of oil coming out of the well could have been massively underestimated.
yeah, i saw that. Seemed like some interesting information, and possibly a lot more financial/legal trouble for BP
Watching that last night made me really mad… So careless
I think it’s even more sad how little people care about this.
Agreed. But, out of sight, out of mind. They’ll care more when they see the economic impact this could have. I can’t even fathom the environmental damage this is going to cause for years and years to come.
bp has now gone to an internet suggestion box…
I need some box on this pipe of mine.
Yea this is horrible, i can’t believe they risk drilling for oil in the ocean but don’t have a back up plan for something like this
They do, it’s just that bp disregarded the fact that 2 of the safe guards in place had failed, and continued pumping oil
God, this is so irresponsible. Mankind has this “eh, i’ll be dead once this starts to matter so who cares” attitude about nature…I really hope that a lot of people get fucked over by this, we need an eye-opener.
What the fuck is wrong with you? Why would you want people to get fucked over?
What did Nostraldamas say about this disaster? Anything? :gotme: lol
Because until we face real consequences for our ignorant and naive actions…no one is going to learn.
If a dog keeps attacking people but no one ever does anything to it to stop it from attacking people, it’ll keep doing it.
But…if you discipline the dog whenever it attacks people, it will eventually learn, correct?
While moto is doing a bad form of wording it, its historically accurate that environmental laws and changes only happen after some event brings it to public attention. So hopefully we can make an example out of BP and have much better regulations or some sort of back up plans if this were to happen again.
did anyone see that shit on the news about how hair salons are donating human hair to soak up the oil? great solution.
The new solution is “to dump mud on it” on Sunday. Quoted as my idea below  Let’s hope it works…
“BP on Sunday will attempt to plug the ruptured oil well. In the “top kill” procedure, a large amount of heavy “mud” – a fluid used as a lubricant and counterweight in drilling operations – will be inserted into the well bore. If that succeeds, the well will be cemented shut, officials said.”
