Did you guys realize that there was a similar incident back in 1979 that was 2 miles down and was spewing for 7 months before they had to resort to drilling relief wells, as they planned this time as well?

Coast Guard Lt. Commander Tony Russell said Thursday reports that Admiral Thad Allen, who is overseeing the operation, had called the procedure a success were incorrect. He said Allen said that the flow of mud was stopping some of the oil and gas but had a ways to go before it proved successful.

So I was watching some news conference and the big question of the day was, “what happens when a hurricane encounters a huge oil slick?”
Expert 1: The dark oil will collect more heat and make the hurricane stronger.
Expert 2: The oil will prevent the hurricane from drawing up as much moisture which will weaken the hurricane.
Government official: :bloated: “Ok, so we’ll go with no fucking idea. What about what happens to the oil?”
Expert 1: The oil will be agitated and it will accelerate it’s natural decomposition.
Expert 2: The oil will stay intact and be forced below the surface, killing more little fishes.
Expert 3: The oil will be picked up and forced inland with the surge.
