small engine repair places?

anyone know of any cheap small engine repair places
my dad said i can have his quad if i get it fixed.
it needs a new piston/rings, and be bored over
its a '91 polaris 350 2 stroke

just doing a little searching and wiseco makes some pistons that are .020 and .040 over

any machine shop should be able to bore it over, and doing the rest of the build isnt that hard. taking your time, u should be able to do it in less than a day.

quads are so easy to work on. have a machine shop bore it out and do the rest ur self

I’ve never worked on one, but if you say its easy then i should be able to figure it out.
so does anyone know of any machine shops that dont charge that much

well i kno the guy that did my engine would be chap, but i dont think he would really wanna do that. if u want though, i’ll give you his number and you can give him a call.

just get the shiop manual and figure out the trq specs. simplest way to learn how to do rebuilds

like i said joe, call empire cycle on southwestern or that little toro shop on the corner of the thruway and seneca street.

Just take it some where to get bored and put the rest of it together yourself! 2 strokes are soooooo easy to put together

HOT TO GO on Grand Island is a pimp ass 2 stoke machine shop and engine builder

These guys are awesome and the prices are great

about Wiesco 2 stroke pistons - they are forged race pistons and they must be heated up everytime you use the engine or else they seize. They are great strong pistons for racing however they are not the best for daily/rec machines. I would suggest OEM oversized

wow im an idiot! i didnt read that it was a 2stroke. you can just resleave it and get a new factory piston

There’s a place in Ellicotville, far as hell, he does good work though.

Ray’s

yea, this is definatly not for racing. so i guess i’ll check about an oversized oem piston. what about getting a higher compression piston? would that be bad for just something that isnt raced too?

I run a forged over sized 12:1 wiesco in my 4-stroke quad and don’t have any problems with it. I also installed one in my bro’s 2-stroke polaris. I have never herd of this problem. Both machines are not raced, but who doesnt warm up a quad before riding. This is news to me.

Back on topic, Motioncraft in EA does pretty good work. I think he charges like $40 to bore/hone a cylinder. He will match the cylinder to the piston and check the gap on the rings. For a 2-stroke you just pull the jug off, get machined work done, put piston back on rod, slide cylinder back down and tighten up. Super easy, no valves, no timing chain. My bro has a Polaris Magnum 350 4x4, I just rebuilt that a few months ago. Only had 5 hours total of work on it from taken it apart to reassembly. It took longer to wait for parts to come in and get the cylinder machined.

try wegman’s they are on kenmore ave between military and elmwood

dunno if they can help, but they do all small engines
