Snow Sticking to my dish

I have a new 5lnb Dish, and its pointed at kind of a steep angle… anyways… teh damn thing was out for almost 12 hours yesterday because it is now full of snow that clung to the dish.

Its on the roof of my house, so i dont have access to it with a broom or anything else… so does anybody have any ideas as to how i can keep this thing from holding onto the snow?

I was thinking of a dry spray lubricant, or something like that, but i dont know how long lasting that would be, and i dont want to be climbing up there 4-5x per winter.

i have a cover and it works

pam works so does rainx. how many storys we talking. i got a brush at home depot that retracks from 16 feet to 8 feet. It was my service call money maker.

2 stories… but the dish is also set back on the roof, so its not direct access, i have to stand back ~ 20 feet from the house just to see the dish… otherwise i would just nail it with a super soaker full of heated de icer fluid…

i was thinking http://cgi.ebay.com/DIRECTV-KAKU-5-LNB-HD-SLIMLINE-SATELLITE-DISH-COVER_W0QQitemZ130273182682QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item130273182682&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

but i wasnt sure how effective they are

wont a trash bag over it work?

^ it’ll keep the snow of the dish but you wont be able to see anything on TV lol

like a clear one

Happened to me 3 times last year. I debated about getting one of the covers but it didn’t seem worth it for a 3 time event. Twice I just hit it with the hose to clear it off and the 3rd time I was lazy and just threw snowballs at it. 3rd shot I hit it and the wet snow fell off.

Thats ghetto…even for you

the cover works nice…

:meh:

hm, I must be the only one whose shit never goes out. Must be the 3 dishes I had bobby put up there, one acts as a snow fence

word. Pam cooking spray is usually a safe bet, but when its wet sloppy snow, not much u can do.

Yea, i dont know why we have so many issues… but mine seems pretty sensitive to going out, especially the HD stuff… that was still not back as of this morning, however the non HD channells were back at ~ 2am last night…

i was thinking of tossing a tennis ball at the dish to knock the snow off, but was afraid i would knock it out of alignment…

My dad had the same problem last night, but his dish is on the roof of a 3 story NB house, and he has no way to hit the dish with anything from ground level

Do the dish covers really work well?

has anyone ever tried ski wax? That seems like it would work and it would probably be a one time fix where cooking spray may only last a season.

i thought about that 2… but wasnt sure about how the buildup would effect the dish’s ability to recieve signal

Word, i could see if the wax was reflective. May be worth a shot.

what about the wire you buy to keep water pipes warm. … . why not put it on the back of the dish ?
