Snowboard Recommendations

Looking for some input from people who KNOW their snowboard equipment… not just “I ride this so it’s good”; or “I read this about this”

I’m 6’3; 205-210#.

I currently ride a 162 Option Signature deck that’s more than a few years old; but for me starting out it was great.

I have Ride SPI Bindings (Large), and Burton Shawn White Boots (Size 12).

I don’t do much park riding; most of my time is spent free-riding/all-mountain I believe it’s called.

I’m looking for recommendations on a new deck to replace the one I currently have.

Any brand loyalty/preference or are you open to anything? What is your price range?

No Brand loyality

Try and keep it under $400

I may be able to get you a good price on Atomic brand snowboards…the “Allibi” is what i have and is a great board.

if you want a high end board you’re going to have to be willing to spend a little more. If you increase your budget to 500 it really opens up your options

buffalo boards is a good place to talk to some guys about boards. one kid that works there in particular demos all the shit they have in the store before they buy it. one thing that i like personally but dont ride anymore, and also something i have heard from him being good is atomic. they are starting to come around for snowboards and are pretty good priced.

edit: atomic hatchet is a good board

spend a little more bit and get a lib tech board with maga track and rock all your old stuff…

http://www.lib-tech.com/

p.s if anyone has a pos 151- 149 board looking to buy a beater board for fun…

Ok; then bump it to $500… Whatever I buy I want it to be worth the $$; I’m willing to spend $$ on a quality product that will last and perform. let’s put it that way.

as jared said, lib tech’s are the way to go. do a little reading on their Magne Traction and Banana Technology. I’ve ridden pretty much every high end board at demos, and lib’s are 1000x better than everything else out there. btw I’ve worked at a snowboard shop for 9 yrs

Which Lib would you recommend for me then with my info?

I’ve read your reviews on them before, and read other info and it looks great; but their site kinda sucks for which is for what size/type of rider (at least last time I looked at it)

What about the dark series? what’s the difference between the BTX and MTX boards? The banana?

smokinsnowboards.com

has magnatraction too…

i have riden burtons almost all the time i have been ridin and last year switched to a gnu the danny kass pro model and loved it so that would be my suggestion.I also had a palmer for a year and it was ok but not really my style

mmmm skate banana <3

I’m selling my deck if you are interested. Its a Forum Raider 162, bought it 2-3 years ago.

Word. i seen this shit. Im def picking up a banana board next year.

I got this board.I like it.done me good on the trail and the park.

mtx has mag not banana, btx has mag and banana (banana is the shit, I recommend it). I would say a 161 dark btx, which also comes in a wide if you need (but I think you can get away without with the dark, it has a 25.1 waist width but go wide if you ride angles closer to zero).

TRS 162 is another good choice. how stiff of a board do you like?

skunk ape 162 would also fit you well, not sure if you’d need a twin though

Haven’t ridden many different boards so I’m not sure how stiff of a board I need/want/prefer. With doing most of my riding on the hill and not in the park I think a stiffer board is in order but I’m not 100% on that.

I’ll look into the TRS as well; the 161 BTX is not easy to find from what I can tell; any suggestions where I can locate one?

we stock lib pretty heavily at my work. I’ll be there next on friday and take a look for ya. i think we have a 161 btx but i’ll double check

same here… the Alibi is bad ass! Atomic boards in general are badass
