Snowpocalypse '14-'15 - Now 13 Deaths

lol at quick. You prob have 3 feet of snow up there.

Doesn’t all need to come down, just trying to prevent ice dams. I’d do it but my rake isn’t gonna cut it and I don’t have access to the right size ladder. Not all sides have snow packed either, should be a somewhat quick job compared to clearing driveways. Also…ever pushed snow off a roof? Gravity is your friend, the snow just needs a good nudge.

I had a German reporter reach out to me for some of my pictures and put it in Germany’s largest newspaper.

^Thats awesome!

I think I heard they accounted for another death this morning.

^^Translation: “Winter fucks Buffalo in the Cornhole early this year.”

It has begun. Bad when a steel roof is failing

Up to 8 deaths oer WIVB as of today last one was a guy trying to move a plow…

went foa walk last night in north buffalo around 11 the lightning was awesome.

Amazes me. The fact they planned to close and with all the money we pay the Thruway Authority, they can’t watch and make a realtime decision. Then again, when they do close it everyone bitches so whatever.

I would start calling neighbors to see if they can help with the basic stuff like cleaning out your air vents and such to make sure CO isn’t building up in your house.

If I had a snowmobile, I would be all over the 90 helping people. It sucks some people are still there but then again, a lot have no assurance their cars are going to be OK so they are in a tough place. There isn’t a organized effort with how to get cars while making sure people aren’t risking themselves being buried.

mad it into work today. amherst streets are completely clear, its almost laughable how clear they are.

Heard on the radio Cuomo was partly blaming the people stuck on the 90 for getting themselves into that situation. Heard many people who were stuck called into the radio station and were pissed off at Cuomo for not admitting they closed the 90 too late. Majority of the people that were on it and stuck had gotten on before they closed it. And with the prediction of snow to be 2’ at most, and it was triple that - I don’t blame them for being pissed.

Cuomo makes friends so easily.

They admitted closing them too late, but they also didn’t know 4’ of snow was on it’s way.

I’m the last person who wants to agree with Cuomo but he’s right.

I spent all of my college years at Buffalo State having to travel 81 between Syracuse and Watertown to go home to visit family. That corridor is the big brother to our snow band. Back then they pretty much NEVER closed the highways. It was your responsibly to check how bad the weather was going to be and decide if you could make it or not. And we were doing that without smartphones and mobile internet.

That said, they should have closed it earlier because people are too stupid to have any kind of personal responsibility. Long before the storm started NOAA issued the lake snow warning that said somewhere between Dunkirk and Amherst a heavy lake band was going to drop 3 feet or more. They didn’t know where exactly it would be but considering the bands always run perpendicular to the thruway it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that somewhere along it’s length it’s going to be impassable.

Cuomo is a gaping anus

Also though, how many time have we heard “OMGZ like 90 inches of snow is coming you guys” then we get a dusting.

I think you’re confusing YOU not getting the predicted snow with the fact that someone almost always gets the predicted snow.

Every storm last season people were talking shit like, “These weathermen suck, they said 12-18” and I got 6". But if you bothered to look at the official snow totals you’d see a bunch of places reporting 13, 14 and 15" of snow. People only look at the high number and then only compare it to what they got in their own little bubble. The problem is with lake effect someone in a bubble 5 miles away may have a completely different total than you.

EDIT: It also helps if you stop getting your weather from the same people you get your news from. The news is a business and over hype and fear sells. Get your weather from NOAA. They aren’t selling anything and don’t give a shit about making storms sound scary to drive more traffic to their site.

Year after year, I am amazed at the window lickers that get on the 90 during a snow storm and get all surprised they get stuck. Its not always about how your car will do in the snow, but how the asshat with bald tires in front of you does.

Cuomo also said that we have gates at every highway ramp…moron
He said anyone who goes out driving during a ban deserves to get a ticket…moron. What if people need food

It’s the asshat in the 18 wheeler that’s the real problem. You get a car stuck and a couple people can push it out or at least move it to the side to keep the road open. Once an 18 wheeler gets stuck, and some asshole in another 18 wheeler tries to go around it also getting stuck, it’s road closed until after the storm.

By noon ill be trying to get a few miles away to my brother in laws. He needs help clearing his roof on the house and garage. I hear the city is giving out $160 tickets.
Whats my over and under
