So. 700p?

NE2 is a month away and I’ve been itching for a PDA phone for a while. I was settled on the BB 8703 because it seemed like it would do everythign I wanted it to and I really liked the physical form… Until I learned that the minimum data plan was $25/month. I’m not going to pay $600 over 2 years for a service I won’t use. (Although based on evolve’s excellent advice I will have unlimited data for the first month or two to give myself some room to fuck up.)

What I want in the phone is something that will help me keep track of my personal, professional, and (soon) student lives.

-Phone calls & text messages (duh)
-A solid calander/scheduler
-Task manager
-Finance manager checkbook balancing style
-Lots of other software options to accomadate other things I’ll want to start doing over the next year or two
-Stability
-A physical design that relies primarily on the keypad. (I.E. if I spend $123412512 at wegmans I don’t want to have to pull the stylus to log it into whatever software I end up using)
-No syncing necessary
-No emailing necessary

Seeing as how I’m not really thrilled to have windows on my computer it doesn’t make much sense for me to have it on my phone. :roll2: So any reason not to go with a Treo 700P? Am I way off thinking that it’s more likely to be stable than a WM phone?

palm OS = only one app open at a time, dont know if that sucks for you.

If you weren’t on Verizon i’d recommend a Symbian OS smartphone as they’re definitely the most stable, but nokia doesn’t do CDMA.

I didn’t realize with a BB you were required to have the data plan?

Eh that’s probably fine. I don’t need to do any time consuming stuff like write emails with it so it won’t be a problem to finish one thing before going on to the next. I think I’ll pick up one of these next month.

Does Verizon still do that 2 week trial period?
