So I bought a GTR.....

^^^he loves your car, well his new car

ROFL:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:, that gets you at least 100 cool points in my book

I was only joking anyways. I wouldn’t sell the car…just yet

and my car is my daily driver…i find that any car can be a daily driver for as long as you know how to drive it. if your going to red line your shifts just to get to 60 km/h…you’ll definitely beat up your motor and start having problems, but if you treat the car properly, then you shouldn’t have any problems, except for common issues that any car would eventually run into.

just my 2 cents

Swap your old motor in, I’ll take a good condition kouki for trade! Then youl have two godzillas!!!

oh yeah Tom, how many RB26 powered cars have you owned? If you maintain them, they are very very reliable. I shitkick mine and ive had no issues. Oh yeah and I used to daily it for 2 years, it was great.

That’s good to hear! This motor looks and sounds in great shape! The whole oil pump/crank thing scares the shit out of me though. I happen to love trackdays and redline merging. That shit that I was reading over on GTRC regarding that issue set off alarm bells all over.

“You should have no problems, unless you regularly take your car to high rpms and abuse your car at trackdays.”

uhhhhhhh, yeah. Drift days and track days…i like to abuse my cars on the track.

You got very lucky Nate. I speak from word of mouth and still do not want an RB26 or GTR. I know you use your car,I’m there half the time with you, you damn tool. I prefer my easy to maintain, highly redline enjoyable engine with a fair amount of power. To answer your question about how many RB26 powered cars I have owned, only about 1 behind you bud.

OP: man, you probably wouldn’t hate the GTR if you didn’t buy the WORST one.

I think part of the reason my oil pump drive has survived this much high rev abuse is the fact I do not have a rev limiter. No rev limiter= no shock load at high rpm on the oil pump/oil pump drive. I would rather over rev a bit than bounce off the limter at high revs. If you dont shock load your oil pump drive its not THAT fragile, but it is undeniably the weak point of the early rb26.

PS: Tom i dont disagree with you about the RB20’s being bulletproof and rev happy.

No hate for the GTR, just am totally sketched by the oil pump drive. I’ve never driven owned a car with this solid of a chassis before. It feels like its on fucking rails round the bends. And that’s just with some decent coliovers. I’d love to track the shit out of this thing with r compound tires and some decent multi link. That would be a monster.

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever have enough piece of mind in the motor to repeatedly track it and beat it like I want to. Maybe I’m just too paranoid, I dunno. I like bulletproof. I like having the confidence that I can drive with nothing in my mind except for lines, braking points and full throttle apexes. Not really liking the little demon in the back of my mind all the time. Just last night I heard a story of a full race rebuild rb26 blowing up at the track first corner. 30G into the motor.

That shit sketches me right out.

And I don’t exactly disagree with an RB26 being reliable. I just don’t want one due to it not being AS reliable and have no reason for TT power for the drive to work :stuck_out_tongue:

there’s ALWAYS a reason TT power. hahahhahha.

Well either way it will feel sluggish when I get to work an drive a 997 GT3 or GT3 RS lol.

Was that the tomei build?

This thread demands pics!

I have a brand new 4 inch gtr catback exhaust 700$ its in montreal but im sure we can meet half way

I’m loving this car! thanks again ronnie! hahaha

The more I drive this thing. The more I am loving it!!! Still want to make the switch back but man this thing has some serious potential. Riyad at Riworx worked his magic on this thing and it`s rock solid good times!

Merging onto the highway with a stock catback is hella fun on this thing.

I am going to build me one of these one day for the track. Just when I have more disposable income for another project.

To all of you who said I would get used to the RHD and not be bothered by it anymore…you`re totally right! Fully adjusted.

I learned on RHD,
and I love it

ronnie. you never called nor dropped by that day. give me a eta.

lol post pics of the car
