So I dropped my tranny...... I'm not impressed!

So I dropped the tranny off my SR today because it was making some annoying noises… changed the throw out bearing, pilot bushing and now I see I need a tranny main bearing. The reason I am not impressed is because of my Center Force DF clutch. This thing has like 5K on it… the center of it has turned purple from heat… and the presure plate and my fidanza flywheel are heat scored. Which tells me its been slipping I think… its supposed to be good for 279 lbs … I’m no where near that… and I don’t ride the clutch like an old lady so I dunno what gives. Anyone else seen this on the Centerforce clutches? I thought these were decent.

It was also broken in correctly for 1000k.

The Clutch isnt fully disingauging, you need to adjust either your pedal or the fork pinion.

just curious, was your clutch slipping before could you feel it slip or did it still grip hard?

I got a quick question…

I can hear my release/throw out bearing spin when I push my clutch in. I can only hear it thou if its quiet around and I dont have my radio on.

I also dont have any interior really… “door panels and center colum only”

And have a tiny hole near the tranny tunnel…

I was told in cases you can hear them spin ? but as long as its not whinning or making a high pitched sound its fine ?

My clutch does not slip AT ALL… I can peal 3rd easily and 4th the odd odd odd time “could have been the road and way the wheele were?lol”

But I was told if i can hear it, then its not dis-engaging all the way ? thou its not slipping ?

anyone help ?

Don’t worry, your clutch is fine. It’s normal to hear slight vibrations in the clutch. You are also correct about the high-pitch noises, that’s when you know you need a new throwout bearing.

The clutch is grabbing well… I can shift lock it … so I’m pretty sure its not slipping… I’ll check the pedal adjustments… thanks shift.

in silence, i start my car and turn off all vents and radio and everything, i hear a slight wooooshhhhhhhhh-like noise continuously, when i press my clutch in its gone, this noise was there for a LONG time, even before i changed my clutch, so i guess this is ok, i think its the main bearing going tho, but as for your question, i think the others are right, it needs some adjustments
