I think so…
K&N X-treme air cleaner sits on a carb stud with a nut & washer to secure it.
The washer is no longer there on the stud…I’m guessing it stuck to the rubber underside of the X-treme lid and then fell off into the carb as I removed the air cleaner assembly. I didn’t hear it fall and I didn’t notice it was missing when I went to re-install the air cleaner.
WTF…if it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all…
I’m thinking of de-stroking it down to a 383, AFR’s, and a larger cam.
When I talked to T&L for their advice, they told me I should have never sprayed that motor at all because, since it was a 408 with a 4" stroke and 6" rod, the pistons are quite small and thin and not really suitable for nitrous use. Thus, the de-stroking idea…dropping back to a 3.75" stroke and a 5.7" rod should make for a much stronger piston.
Block is at B&R right now…if it needs bored out I should know by tomorrow…if I have to go .040 or .060 over then I will have to wait a couple weeks for the kit…if it can stay at .030 then Jegs has 'em in stock and I can get one next day.
Anyone have any thoughts on heads? If I have to buy new heads anyway, is there any reason to use anything else but AFR 195 Eliminator’s?
Current cam: 230/244 .510/.540 @ 112
Cams I’m considering:
Comp Nitrous HP: 236/248 .520/.540 @ 113
Comp Xtreme Energy: 242/248 .540/.562 @ 110
I have a set of Comp Pro Magnum 1.6 rockers…
So…actually that would be:
Current cam: 230/244 .544/.576 @ 112
Cams I’m considering:
Comp Nitrous HP: 236/248 .555/.576 @ 113
Comp Xtreme Energy: 242/248 .576/.600 @ 110
Obviously Nitrous HP cam would perform better with nitrous…XE cam would be better for N/A…can’t decide…:dunno:
