so im out a nissan 240sx

thanks chicken

im gunna try a few things tonight,

ill keep you guys posted.

i gave it to the wheel last night. through my shoulder in the process.

and again, nothing. gunna try some more stuff today.

a few bolts under the dash and 1 in the engine bay

swapping steering column is easy business

this may be kinda mickey mouse, but you can just make your own ignition system.

the key turning only triggers three wires, acc(essories), ign(ition), and start.

so you can make a switch for acc, ign, and a push button for start and be off to the races.

you’ll be able to start your car without a key, so just make sure doors are allllllllllllllways locked. or hide the switches or something.

if you want super mickey mouse just do what I had to do once when I lost my keys, rip the ign/start/12v from the column and when you wanna drive, twist the ign/12V together, and hold the stater down to the same 12v until the car starts.

then when you wanna shut down just pull the ign off the 12v.

essentially, you’re hot wiring your car everytime. woioo hooo

uhm isn’t the steering wheel lock power actuated in some way?

any has sterling column pleae call me asap mine is damaged i need to fix asap please call me 905297 6450

Was the car originally auto? If so, try and plug an auto tranny computer in there again.

The way the wiring works in a 5 speed swap, you disconnect the sensor or something like that for the key release…

pretty sure it’s mechanical from turning the key.

either way, hot wiring doesn’t work because the steering will lock.

bringing back a 2 year old thread?

cut the ignion off with a hack saw( romove the key lock) take the wires and turn the car over using a coin.

worse come to worse you hook up a push button and a hide-a-switch. Its the only way to go for theft purpose also.

okay so you tried everyones take on it well heres mine i work at downtown toyota and have several instances of that happening:

(a) yes the car being of that age will be worn out but not a lost cause.

(b) new key is too sharp and needs to be dull, but before you place the key in the ignition spray ingnition lube let set for 20min then try!

© upon doing step (b) when taking the key out you see alot of fillings mean it’s built up with junk spray alittle more then keep trying.

if that doesn’t work bring the cylinder to me and i’ll get it recoded for you with the same key if its not that screwed up after trying so much! pm me if you want to try my way… one of your last resorts.
