I’d say buy a civic dump a few grand into suspension/tires/motor
Auto-x, Track day’s, whatever
Learn on a car that parts can be found everywhere and super cheap
Then when your ready upgrade to a nicer car

Miata, very light, handle great stock over all a great performing track car. im trying to get a 2006 MX-5 for the same reason.
Miata.

You are looking for something very impossible.
The one car I’d go with that you can drive all year, beat the hell out of on a track, still be relatively pimp, at that price :
Audi 90
:word: or the audi quattro coupe :pimp:
If the goal is to learn how to road race, you want to learn in a small, light RWD car. That is unless you plan to stick with FWD or AWD. But most race cars are RWD and the technique for driving them is quite different. That’s a problem in the snow belt if the car is also going to be a DD, because let’s face it: RWD isn’t the best in the snow. But with a good set of winter tires on all 4 it can work and there is really no comparison on the track. RWD is more fun and more useful for skill development. Miata with 3 sets of tires is what I would do unless I needed >2 seats.
sell the truck. buy an economy car that you can afford, save for a track car.
MR-2 Would be best bang for buck in your price range, but i think you are a little to big for one.
someone on a Dodge Forum may actually want to buy my R/T. this changes things…
^ look into a cheap imprezza or such from the mid 90’s. or as said the audi’s. get something with a good all around ability for year round fun/spirited driving.
yea i saw the porsche on Clinton…find an Early 90s Escort Gt for like 2g in awesoem shape and still have tons left for mods and DD
3rd gen fbod with a 350. heads, cam, intake, exhast. should be able to do that on 8k no problem.

Go finance some money.
Get snow tires, and you don’t need to mod it to be quick/have fun at track/do well in autoX
