so whats the law about pocket knife size ?

i want a decent sized pocket knife for work, something i can stick on a belt clip for easy access when i have to open boxes, cut shrink wrap ect

i just dont want to take any shit if any cops see like at the gas station on the morning coffee / smoke stop and such

im thinking something in the 4" range, and 9 times out of 10 it would be hanging down below my jacket, in plain view

from what i remember but could be totally wrong i think the limit is 3 inches?

i thought it was 4 inches

there is no limit on size!

S.O.G. check them out i have mine and love it.

lasted through a tour overseas and i still wear it almost every day

they just cant be like ninja knives or knives that shoot out like guns n shit… but the blade can be however big you want it to be.

yet buy a ducking box cutter

so I can legally carry around a sword?

I find that hard to believe. If so, I need to get a sword…soon.

yeah ive been out camping and ran into conservation officers (which have the same authority as a state trooper) while having a 10" long bladed blwie knife on me and they didnt say anything. You can also walk down the street with a shotgun or riffle as long as it is not loaded you can’t get in trouble for itAs long as you havea reason for carrying it that is.

do the SOG’s flip out easy with a snap of the wrist ?

its kinda a bitch being in full welding gear and having to 1/2 undressed just to get a glove off so i can open a knife, or to swap a blade in a box cutter

my lil multi tool knife has more edge on it then all the box cutters in the shop combined.

something with a hardened blade would be best so it doesnt dull when i hit steel / stainless

“Pocket knives” are anything that is 6’’ or less, and are allowed to be concealed, normally in your “pocket”. Anything larger must be exposed and have a sheath (sheathed part is normally pretty lax’ed). HRK, look into something with a spring assist, as opposed to a straight up switchblade. While spring assists are considered to be in the same category as switchblades, most people normally don’t care and you can make it look like your just good at flipping your knife out. Also, NY is pretty strict about doubled edged weapons, so make sure whatever you get has a single edge if you’re trying to avoid legality issues.

whatever happened to the “rule of thumb”? or is that a wives tale?

Rule of thumb has nothing to do with knife size. It has to do with the width of the stick you can beat your wife with…

…measuring thumb right now!

 awesome. gf is on her way now and i have big thumbs!

“well ya can’t do much damage with that naw can ya? Maybe it should have been rule of wrist?”

i would say you’ll be in pretty good shape.

hardened steel will hold an edge really well. not to mention the lifetime warranty

it’s the knife that split the bullet lol

BDS was such an awesome movie…

william defoe: THERE WAS A FIRE FIGHT!!!

The SOG’s are not switch blades. Most of them have a spring mechanism inside them, its called assisted opening.

Very slick setup…

Microtech FTW

edit: jk. please don’t buy one for opening boxes. Go to Walmart and buy the cheapest knife there.
