So yeah...

That’s rough man.

My cat is turning 17 in July. Got him the summer before 3rd grade. He hasn’t slowed down at all, which is pretty amazing. But it’s gonna be hard when his time comes.

crying over dog= ok

just found that funny, i dunno what it is about pets and being so close to them. My dog is 14, been hit by two cars and has a replaced hip and im sure the day he dies i’ll be crying as well.

sucks to hear about your loss, but on a lighter note hallmark sells cards for such an event, http://pressroom.hallmark.com/pet_sympathy.html

sorry for the loss man, I’ve been there and done that :frowning:

This really sucks, it’s like losing a good member of the family. And you feel empty for a long time afterwards.

sorry to hear that my dog did the same felt like someone kicked me in the gut i lost both my grandmas my cat and 2 dogs all within a year. best wishes to you

because a dog is always loyal

All the talk about the house feeling empty is so true. You just remember certain things like coming home and hearing the noise of him getting up and running to the door.every now and Then I still listen for it and then realize it.

 Dammit you beat me to it!

That sucks dude. +1 for it being OK to cry. 2 years ago I got the first dogs I’ve ever had. Best friends I’ve ever had (not counting my fiance of course.) I’m gonna ball like a baby when they go. Hopefully it won’t be for a long time.

I think you were probably kidding, but turning to alcohol to numb up or whatever’s not cool. Won’t help.

EDIT: If you ever decide to get another dog I’d highly recommend rescuing one. It breaks my heart to think that my best friend was hours from euthenasia at one point.

Shitty.

I love dogs. I will miss mine when she is gone.

Sorry to hear. My retriever is 12, I’ll be down that road eventually. :frowning: +1 on a rescued dog.

Thanks guys. Yeah everybody goes through it. It’s not the first time and I know it wont be the last (we have 3 other dogs). I just wish he could have gone like in his sleep or something. We think he may have had a massive stroke or something. But yeah, he was going blind and deaf and had bad hips and had a hard time getting up, but like I said, the vet said he wasn’t in pain so we just tried to make his last few weeks enjoyable. All the other dogs are moping around and have been crying all morning. When I was like 14 we had a dog, he was like 2 1/2 years old, got nailed by a car and we had to have him put down…that was the worst, because it was completely unexpected. At least we knew this one was going to go soon. Well it could be worse right lol. If you have a pet horse and they die you need a tractor with forks to move it.

sorry Jeg, Ive been there. It sucks but at least hes not suffering anymore.

Yeah that’s my mentality…just part of life. I’ll get over it. I just hope to god we don’t go buying any more lol. We use to always have 2 dogs. Then my sister got her own…and Barney (the one who just died) had a pup with my sister’s dog Jackie and now we have Bruno. So at least we have a dog to carry on the Barney legacy. Sucks the most because he was like the most unique dog I’ve ever owned. He acted dumb…but damn was he freakin’ smart. He never really got into playing with chew toys, but he would take them from the other dogs when they were annoying him and place em like 6 inches in front of himself and smile. Then when they tried to get their toy back he would grab it before they could. It was funny as hell.

*Yes he was named after Barney the dinosaur, he was my little sisters’ bday present when they (twins) turned 5 lol.

Should have listened to this guy:

:stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t get it lol.

His signature sign of was “This is Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered.” Thought it was appropriate since Bruno was unplanned, although it sounds like it’s worked out fine for ya.

Ahhh ok lol. Durf. Yeah hes an awsome dog. I love him to death. Hes such a sweetheart…just really fuckin stupid lol. Whats strange is that his mother was like 45 lbs, father was like 60-65 lbs and he is around 110-115 lol. He’s a fuckin moose. I should have named him Lenny (from Of Mice and Men).
