Something came in the mail today…

What ever could it be?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/Bushings/02.jpg

Yes. Finally.

Also, I sitched in some new panels in that little trunk rust patch. I’ll grab some pictures tommorow.

Time for some pictures I’m far from proud of.

Patch #1.

A pair welded in.

Then I used long-hair over the patch to seal it from moisture.

I got tired of body work for today, so I decided to attack that rear suspension to get some of them bushings ready to install.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/14.jpg

Hello rear upper control arm.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/15.jpg

Where did it go?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/16.jpg

I got to wondering if I fucked up the body harness when I removed the motor and wiring - turns out, everything is fine.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/17.jpg

So, Mr. Bushing, you think you’re so tuff that you need to be pressed out?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/18.jpg

Experience fire! That’ll learn ya.

The bushing just slid right out after that little meeting with the flame.

I’ll leave the other side for later.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/21.jpg

Sealed the new patch up with some undercoating.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/240sx/June13/22.jpg

That’s it for now.

How do you manage to keep the bolts nuts washers all organized? honeslty when i did my bumper, hatch, lights i lost so many bolts so i ran to home depot here and there.

good stuff btw.

You and your Fire…

Socks, are you using self etch primer on the new metal?

dissassemble those N1’s and test the dampers…

it would REALLY suck if you found out too late that they are on their way out or alreayd blown.

too many people get ganked buying used coils.

how much are you lowering the car? the factory multi-link will suffice?

If they are blown, shakes fist at birdhou53

Not that much. However, if you want to cut a guy a deal…

^^^…lol

well if you got them off mark i KNOW they are blown…lol…j/k

nah, but check em anyways,

dissassemble, compress damper and make sure it rebounds smoothly and without any noise or signs of leakage

Only way those coilovers can be blown is if you put them next to a fan.

Zing! I was going to run them as is anyways. I have to rebuild the motor after everything is together, so it’d give me time to do them then if there was a problem.

However, two of the studs on the front coilovers have fucked up threads. :x Oh well, I’ll track down some new studs.

wow! thats amazing! just wondering what did you use to light that bushing on fire? like would a propane torch work?

or did u use oxygen acetylene (sp) to burn tha crap outta it? plus did it have a strong smell? cuz im thinking to do mine soon. just that i dunno if i should do it in my front yard lol…

haha i thought i recognized those coilovers…

i can say first hand that 1) they are not blown and 2) they are in very good condition… I helped install them when mark got them.

I used oxy-acetylene torches. I just heated up the center, then it easily tapped out. Also, it smoked like a bastard and smelled terrible.

Alrighty, finally got some pictures/work done.

This is how it starts today:

Some driver’s side rear frame repair - it’s almost done! Thank god!

Look at those sexy patches made out of shelving.

I only got two hours into it today, but I got enough done to keep my sorry ass happy. I’m almost done all the frame repairs - I’m so god damn happy about that. Really, I am.

Got some more frame work done. Other than the passenger side rear inside quarter piece, passenger rear wheel well, and the passenger rocker panel, I’m done doing rust. These should only take a couple days, then the welder goes away until it’s motor mount time.

Frame work ahoy.

Sealing up the trunk with long-hair. It really looks like ass, but I could care less. I just don’t want water getting in the trunk again.

Closed up.

Overall, a good hour put into it today. I look forward to turning wrenches soon.

holy shit, 9 pages and you’re still not done rust repair? maybe you should have gone with a different chassis, I bet you used up more money in supplies by now.

u should have just made a movie

Well, here’s a little breakdown in body supplies:

  • Pack of rods: $10
  • Bondo/Fiberglass filler/Long hair: $30
  • Steel: Free.
  • Sand paper: $5
  • Undercoating: $15
  • Primer: $7

Actually, that’s about it. I work at PartSource, so I get cost on all the parts/supplies I need.

it’s now going to be the heaviest s-chassis I’ve ever seen…

All that this tells me is that you’re a thief. Employee theft is a major problem in companies and should be dealt with accordingly.
