Some daily assistance

sitting in traffic in a fun car is not fun…better off having a fun weekend car, and something easy to drive in traffic.

He’s moving to San Diego…not L.A Traffic isn’t too bad there

edit: Since when is a 335 NOT a daily? Pretty sure i’d rahter be in a 335 in traffic than a rabbit

I love my Rabbit. If I had to choose between a 15,000 dollar Rabbit and a 15,000 dollar 335 (that I couldn’t sell), I’d take the rabbit without question… Unless the 335 was a wagon.

rabbit sales just went up 66%

True. 335 is dope and all however if I did the golf/ rabbit I’d also have the funds to start a side project which could be something more fun to whip around in the weekend kinda thing. And Cali is loaded with project cars that I could get a piece of.

true, 335 is definitely a DD. But a 6-speed DD with a sporty clutch is not a traffic friendly car. An auto rabbit is.

I can see both sides of it. I drive my 6-speed mazda in some moderate traffic, and I don’t mind it.

San Diego traffic definitely still get’s pretty bad. Not LA bad, but bad nonetheless.

I better get one asap before the world gets news of this. Get them before they become the next hot thing

335d?

Little bit of both worlds. Then convert to a bio-diesel if you get bored and tell us if it was cost effective.

I just did an autotrader search on 335d. Used. any distance sorted price -low to high. Cheapest ones are $37k

This is another thing. 335 would be 6speed. Rabbit would be auto. Tdi golf would also be a 6 Speed too

Looked into it. Still very expensive and from what I gathered not that awesome on fuel. Mid 30s

I’ve looked for them for some time. Seen them around like 32 ish. Never sub 30k

I love my 335… but yesterday I had a rental and it was auto…

I cant believe I’m saying this, but in moderate traffic, it was nice to just not have to shift.

PS. your names roy?

i dded my evo for 3 years, through stock clutch, and angry twin plate, in traffic i was never hating life, but i could be ready for an auto
and nah, im mike

i’ve been in some shitty traffic with my sti… i would say the sti clutch isn’t the easiest clutch in the world and I’ve NEVER had a problem…but then agian, I’m not lazy…maybe I’ll grow out of it… but I drive automatics all day at work so that could be why I don’t mind driving a stick in traffic.

Bueme, I honestly think the day you are driving your rabbit in SD and some kid passes you in a much nicer car, you’ll sell and updrade. Just save the headache and go with a 335 now

well quit confusing me… damn it.

every day? to and from work for an extended period of time?

again, it all depends on driving habits. When Where and How often. It definitely wears you down over time, though. Different strokes for different folks. I don’t mind it, but I don’t sit in heavy traffic either. I sometimes think to myself that it would be nice to just have a 2 pedal car, but I would definitely need a toy on the side for non-commuter driving.

idk i mean i always drove my evo no probs in traffic or any of that, but then id hop in my dads truck or whatever was available and being an auto its sometimes nice to just get in and go
i still am considering the 335, im just trying to weigh out spending mid 20s on a car, then i know ill be tempted to mod it and by the time im done ill be a little over 30k into a car which at this point seems almost a little silly for being my age
where i could do a rabbit for low teens then get a clean cali car like a 240 or something and make some good jam on that and at the end of the day i still have cash from my evo left and i didnt even touch into my savings

idk maybe im just trying to be too adult here and need to let loose

dammit! ipad auto correct, meant to say rly. :frowning:

Whatever you do, just don’t handcuff your personal life with your car payments/expenses. You are moving to Cali. In all honesty, your car situation should be the last of your worries. You are going to have SO MUCH more on your mind when you get out there. So, whatever you decide, make sure that you will still be able to enjoy your experiences there.

I would never allow myself to get into a bad situation with a car payment. Whether I did 335 or tdi or rabbit I’d be able to buy it in full. My mind set is staying away from a more expensiveish car. If I was staying in buff I’d have a 335 tomorrow in all honesty. But with Cali I’d rather have something a bit cheaper and have the extra cash in the account for a cushion.

just get a prius. its the californian way

Mike I completely agree with Tyler here. I just got back from vacation in Miami for a week and I know exactly what hes saying. You know you want a 335 and you have for sometime, I say go for it man. You never know how long you’ll be able to enjoy it and enjoy life, go for the 335i

or get a s2k that you’ve also liked a ton because they are nice and can be had for cheap. with the weather getting nice you could drive it to cali easily.
