so some of you may know I do side work out of my garage for family and friends…

Today some one brought me a kia sportage 1998, they bought for there son. they said there was a rattling noise, and a CEL, some other small thing they wanted me to look at.

First thing I did was hop in with a scan code reader and pulled:

2 P0440 (Evap codes)
1 P0343 (Crank shaft sensor Code)
1 P0326 (Knock sensor Code)

then I started it… I know why there is a Knock senor code.
that “Rattling Noise” is not a Rattling noise!

How do you call a friend and tell them there truck needs a motor?

you didnt do it, they knew something was up and sent it your way. Hey im sorry but the motor is shot, buy a new motor, have motor rebuilt or buy new truck. thats the way the cookie crumbles

They need to own it and have it insured for a whole year to do that. I was going to buy a clunker and do the same thing ($100 neighbors car that barely ran), up until I read the fine print that I couldn’t do it.

So I called him told him. Ge told me to still do the tune up and oil change??? I told him it’s not worth it… He said it can’t be that bad it runs and drives fine. I don’t think he gets it.

I would call them and tell them they should have had you look it over before they bought it.

They give you $25 to look at a car because it saves them the cost of an engine?

Also a 1998 Kia? seriously… I’d rather drive a 1992 Tempo.

In 98 weren’t kia’s like 6K bucks new?
