some pics/vid of my bimmer w/updates(56k no way)

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

The charge piping will be rerouted but should be doable. its gunna need to go where the a/c used to be.

manifold is all set and ready to go. I just need to test fit it one more time to make sure everything is golden.

Looking good JD. Too bad I already seen it in person or I would be more enthusiastic. Is this one going to be more of a bitch to tighten down than the ssac manifold or not really because the turbo isn’t hanging downlow now. Running the oil drain and i/c piping are the next hard tasks. Where’s the bracing for the manifold?

That manifold looks so bad ass. I can’t wait to see more of it done.

I purposely positioned the runners for easy access but its still gunna be a bitch when i get closer to the collector. I need midget hands. oil drain will be close but be free and clear. also my silicone 90 will work, but i need to modify my hot side charge pipe obviously.

oh and as far as bracing goes, i will look into it but i have not seen any top mount or bottom mount tubular mani’s with bracing. Im almost positive the six runners will be more then strong enough. however if i can fit it i might just weld it on then. but i dont realy think its necessary.

I figured you would make it easier to work on seeing as it was such a pia before. Get rdone. What else are you waiting on? Just time or need more parts too?

oh and where’s the props to me for wastegate setup? compared to whatever the hell you were trying to do before I came by… love ya

looks good john, definatly give you props for taking on the task of building the manifold urself, wish i coulda lent a hand

Very Nice Work

yea what are you doing about the wastegate on this one i know the last one you had to move it … and just think you could pull the old mani and fix it and put it back on in a few hours…but i really like the new set up…did you ever do anything about the rear end??

I think the thing that impresses me the most about this whole thing is that your learning as you go, and not acting like a know-it-all. I honestly respect peoples shit more when they do it themselves, instead of paying someone else to do it, and then taking the credit for it. Looks fuckin amazing too.

/\ agreed.

John I was thinking about it that with all 6 runners it may hold together better than a 4cyl manifold but you still have a lot of weight being supported and the exhaust will be even longer now. Even if you didn’t weld braces in, but used some spherical rod ends and threaded bar to help support weight it may save the time of having to fix cracks in the future. Plus it will give you some baller status as no one else in the bmw world does it.

If you want I’ll get you some pics of dsm support setups. Here’s my talon’s header after jethot.

3 3/8ths ss rods for support.

Oh and I sent you a pm for the heat sheilding.

^ sexay

I would brace it as well, just to be safe. Mr. Burch speaks the truth.

mindless - " john get rid of the damn ac you need the room"

turbociv - " wah wah wah i want to keep my ac wah wah wah"

lol looks great john

sick car and good luck with the build

thanks everyone for the positive comments. after gettnig the mani back i had to make another adjustment but all is good now.

I ordered up my turbo blanket and exhaust stuff from summitracing and some new exhaust gaskets/studs/nuts and hopefully this weekend ill be finishing everything up.

I just swapped out my old 88deg C tstat for a 75deg C tstat. hopefully i can start buttoning things up soon. im getting anxious.

what about the ass john … or is that going to be next year … bill said you jacked it up a little to try and save the cv’s but what about just going with like a ford rear …or am i getting to far ahead here

/\ I know he has a different diff with a better gear ratio to put in, since he has the power now he doesn’t need the multiplier that was needed before for the week sauce n/a. This new rear end will give him more topend, gets rid of 5th in the 1/4, and will reduce torque to the wheels. All things that this car needs.

ahh

yea, i picked up a 3.15lsd but i kinda had it for back up. I might swap it in anyways and use the 3.91lsd for backup. I even still have my 2.93 open diff that i might weld up and keep as a spare.
