8.8 that bitch you know you want to
you wanna back half my car so i can run a 8.8??? i didnt think so.
as long as the garage is warm im game lol
That would be a fun project. Wouldn’t be all that difficult either.
well, finally had some time so i started making the downpipe. this is very tricky and has a million different bends. PLease ignore the ugly welds, its been a while since ive actually had to weld something. either way its all getting wrapped in high temp heat wrap and the turbo is getting a blanket. Ill get better shots tommorow as i hope to be finishing up with mostly everything.
Stop taking pics with your cell… how much room is there by the firewall/header?
enough, i decided to do some trimming on the smog pump tray so i wouldnt have to worry so much about room.
well, i finished up the down pipe and it wasnt fun. lotsa bends and kinda tough wind it into place but its done and it works. in 2 sections though.
here is a picture of the downpipe wrapped and sprayed with high temp silicone paint.
and a couple pics of the manifold wrapped. I couldnt get anything else done because i need to wait for the header wrap to dry.
ill put more pics up as i finish more little projects. Wrapping took longer then expected.
That wrap sure is a dual purpose…lol
dp looks good.
Looks fantastic i wish i could have made it by but i was caught up all day. That reminds me i need to redo my dump tube too lol.
you changin out your diff too??
thats my spare diff.:snky:
nice wrap job. i’ve saw far too many on honda-tech that are double wrapped for whatever stupid reason. it amazes me how many don’t know how to do it. car looks great, diy at it’s finest.
thanks again everyone. this project is taking longer then i was hoping. oh well.
props go to matt (91crxsi) for most of the wrap job. I only helped here and there cause i was busy with gay maintenance shit that nobody likes to do.lol
here is some more progress pics. Manifold is now coated with high temp silicone sealer. here are some pics of the manifold installed with downpipe.
also some pics with my turdblow wrapped with a diy kit turbo blanket from summit. here is a link http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=THE-15003&N=700+115&autoview=sku
only 35bucs and there is tons of extra material left over :buttrock
and here is a shot of the walker dynomax butted-style clamp. this clamp allows you to butt to pipes of the same diameter together. i needed to brake up the downpipe into 2 sections because it was next to impossible to install it.

only 9bucs so i figured id try it out. cheaper then a vband. ive heard mixed reviews on these clamps but we shall see.
all left is charge pipe to intercooler and oil return line and dump tube. then i think im all set. id like to brace the downpipe to the tranny with a bracket. we shall see what i can whip up.
looking good, not as good as you though =)
I didn’t read through the whole thread but if you want something a bit more free-way worthy than the 3.91, I have a Koala 3.73 sitting here that I’m willing to let go for a few bucks plus your 3.91.
The dif was never installed and is a separate piece not included with the sale.
edit I just realized a horrible typo, it’s a 3.23, not 3.73
