someone hit my car, insurance comming to cheek it out, will they cancel my policy?

so someone messed up my zenki front bumper very badly, inter cooler looks ok so just cosmetic damage. time for full jdm kouki front end. but here’s the thing. today i went and had an opp officer take pictures of the car. it dose not look stock. lowered on coils, camber, front mount right in your face, gauges in the interior. momo wheel, you get the picture. he just said nice car. but i got someone coming from the insurance company to cheek out the car at the body shop. i have no bumper support bar on. the bumper is attached only by the two side clips. should i have someone right away custom fit the re-bar before he comes or will they just cancel my policy anyways when the see the front mount and maybe cheek out the engine and see the sr swap? and if they do cancel will i be able to find other insurance or will every company find out through mine? anyone with experience in this please let me know.

i remember someone on here had there s14 stolen, the cops found it and the insurance cheeked it out and canceled the guys policy when they looked at the sr20

Ask the person that hit your car for cash instead of going through the insurance? that might be a start. Id call some insurance agencies and ask around before contacting your own about it.

i tried but she went right home and called her insurance right away, i would have been happy with 500$ and put that towards a jdm front end. now i have to deal with all this worry. sucks :frowning:

Her policy holder cant refuse to pay you because your car is modified. If your insurance company were the ones paying you may have a problem.

Should probably dose the adjuster in the cheek and stop driving around without a crash bar.

Yeah

Check, dude. “Check” it out.

Why is the bumper bar only attached with clips?

Hope for the best when the adjuster looks at it. A friend of mine had his auto policy cancelled and the car flagged when an adjuster saw it. They came to inspect his truck after a tree fell on it, saw the 240 in the garage and took some pics. Shortly after they contacted him to drop the policy.

Canadian insurance sounds shitty.

so what happened when he got flagged? did he find a new insurance to go with?

never got around to putting the re bar in yet,

No kidding. Certainly way more $$ from what I know.

I would HATE to deal with Canadian insurance. And if you think car insurance is bad, motorcycle is 10x worse.

My father had a 1979 Honda CB900 that he was paying over $1200/year on JUST FOR LIABILITY.

eesh.

[sarcasm] BUT FREE HEALTHCARE!! [/SARCASM]

Enough Canada FTL comments or I’ll start pulling posts. [-X

I’ve had to deal with Canadian insurance before and everything played out just like it would have here.

Did you file a claim with your insurance company? Because unless you WANT to contact your insurance company to get the repairs started (it will get your car back to normal faster) you don’t NEED to talk to your insurance company. Just talk to hers, they’re paying for it anyway. They might drag their feet but they’ll pay for it. That way your insurance company doesn’t even see your car.

I don’t know if this means your insurance company or hers.

Wrong. That used to be how it worked. Now, you must contact your own insurance company and they provide a payout, and then in turn they sue the other insurance company for the loss.

Really? Anyone know if that’s changed in the US as well?

I’ve done is in the past with a collision in Canada as well as several times in the US.

I was rear-ended by a canadian driver (I was sitting at a red light) and he got really mad when I called the cops. He said unless there is bodily injury they never report an accident. I got all of his information and contacted his insurance company the next day (happened on a Sunday). They sent someone to appraise my damage, took it in to get fixed where I wanted and they sent the shop a check for the full amount. No hassles.
