Rear-ended, need help

ok, so i got rear ended in my 1991 civic. its a total beater car. Now, my bumper is all messed. THe guys offered me $200 not to go through insurance. Should I take it? or put in a claim?

PICTURES!

^ offer… take cash… peace out

Is it yellow?

f-that…get an estimate first then decide wheter 200 is worth it

No, its blue.

dont take 200, a rearended honda almost always has to get the unibody pulled, they will probabaly total it and give you 800 - 900 tell him 400 no insurance and keep driving it.

Can you repair it so it’s at least as good as it was before the accident for $200? You said it’s a beater so I’m not talking new bumper cover and pristine paint.

I wouldn’t do it for $200 if the parts total was more than $100. If you expect me to fix it myself on the cheap because you weren’t paying attention and rear ended me I expect you to pay for my time. Otherwise I’ll just drop the car off at a collision shop and have them bill your insurance, regardless of how shitty my car was when you made it worse.

It runs the same, but the bumper wouldn’t be as good as it was before. Its a total beater

It mechanically runs the same, but the bumper and tail light cover are pretty beat up. I think I could sledge hammer the bumper down and rig it up so it stays on there fine.

Does it run the same, mechanically anyway?

Yeah it does. The middle of the bumper is pushed up so my trunk wont close and the sides of the bumper are hanging down.

If I put pics up will that help?

deffinitely more then $200, it will probly be a pain in the ass to get the trunk to work properly now!

I think you have up to a week to file a police report (could be wrong). But I had a guy hit me, told me he’d pay, almost a week later and he never returned my calls. Filed a report and got myself a nice insurance check. I wouldn’t wait too long before you decide.

Already a police report. the guy wants to scrap it and give me the cash

No way I’d take $200 as compensation for a hit like that.

That’s what I am thinking. The bumper was completely intact before the accident.

That car is totaled.

Tell him it is going to cost you $500 to find a car to replace it.

he gives you $500, you beat the trunk down and put in a new light and drive it till she dies.

X2. Good luck getting a tail light to fit in there, or getting the trunk to close so it’s not a lake inside. It may have been a beater before but it has about zero resale value now. Either ask for at least $500 or let insurance handle it and total it, then either drive it into the ground or let them take it.

x2 on a hit like that its totaled youll get atleast 900 from insurance

200 is deffinitely not enough for that kind of damage!

def ton more damage than $200

i’d tell him $2000, if he doesnt want to comply then go through insurance. remember, he hit you, he’s lucky your neck doesnt “hurt”

if you get the $2k cool, go buy another honda, if not go thru ins and have it totalled. you’ll get the kbb for it

i would be pissed man, ive dailied a shitty honda for a really long time and if someone rear ended me, and f’d up my beloved cackord as bad as your car is, i would do everything in my power to get the most $ out of them. they hit you, and f’d up your car; a reliable means of transportation is worth much more than simply the KBB for the car, or in this case, $200
