So, I rarely touched this thing last year and when I went to take it out at the end of last season, it had trouble running, kept stalling out. I figured it was clogged carbs, had focusinprogress clean them, still a no go on the bike working properly. I’d like to get it running again so I can take it out. Any takers to fix this thing?
Pop a whoolie!
Can you describe your symptoms in a bit more detail?
Fuel Pump? Spark? Fuel Filter? Carb needs adjustment?
Wouldn’t this be injected?
Its not fuel injected, it has carbs. It would start up, drive a bit, stall out. Start back up, then continue to stall out. Very jumpy RPMs. May be an easy fix, I just don’t know how to fix things. Any help would be great.

Its an '05 with a carb?
Maybe its old fuel.
intake boots, air filter, fuel pet cock ( on a vacuum)to me it sounds like some what out of timing possibly as well , i had a pain in the ass time with this polaris scrambler 4 wheeler one time, hard starting, bad idle, would run then just die mid throttle, rebuilt carb, still issues, adjusting timing and bam thing was a animal
Fuck man, I cleaned the HELL out of those carbs. If I wasn’t so swamped with 11 other bikes (yes, really) then I’d be trying to come by and figure it out…
does it have pod filters?
Battery charged/dead?
Pop a whoolie
when it would stall out, was there a common RPM range where it would have trouble running and frequently stall out at? or was it sporatic and always in a different spot?
Pretty sure it doesn’t have pod filters.
Battery is dead now that it has sat all winter, I’ll be buying a new one, though.
It would usually stall at idle, at a light, or just sitting while running. Would also struggle for life while driving, act as though it was choking out, sporadically.
sounds like the carbs may need to be synchronized with a set of vaccum guages for starters…but that should only be done after the rest of maintenance items have been checked…such as anything ignition-related, and vavle adjustments, and cam chain tension.
This may sound stupid, but pull the tank up and make sure the fuel line isn’t pinched/twisted. Happened on my 05 Katana and had the same issues, also check that the petcock is clean. Another common issue is valve adjustment, but if they were ok before the carb cleaning they shouldn’t be that out of sync now. Syncing the carbs is easy with the right tool, or you can look up how to make the tool for around $5.
Bump: Shot you an iMessage on Wednesday, dirtye30. Still interested in fixing it?
