southtowns subaru diag/repair...fuel filler neck?

g/f’s 99 legacy just threw a p0440 generic emissions evap code…
hoping it’s the fuel filler neck as that seems to be pretty common. I can see a pile of rust sitting under the gas cap…

any place in the southtowns area recommended?

Ask thejackman on bufscoob. He has been known to do housecalls for work like this.

In case you end up trying to troubleshoot it yourself. Hopefully it’s not the lines on top of the tank or the tank itself. But you’d likely smell gas all the time if it was the lines, or if you have it filled past halfway if the tank is leaking at the seam. (The issue with my '95, that I don’t plan on fixing unless I find someone willing to do it cheap.) My mom’s 99 OB had the filler neck issue and Ron’s garage in Hamburg did it, I don’t remember the cost, but they’re fair.

you should be able to pull the plastic cover off the filler neck and see if it is rusted out. I had to replace the neck on my 95 wagon. I replaced my in the driveway, it is not that hard of a fix. you just have to jack the car up.

turbociv on here does side jobs i think, ask him?
