Spacers and Brake clearance.

Hey Gents with the R32 brake upfront. The stock SE 16 is what +42 right,
Would a 17" with +25 cause any clearance issues?

What is the widest spacer I can safely use without using extended studs?

Zac

It is recommended to extend the studs whenever you put spacers but I guess something less than 5mm could do it…
I would not put spacers without changing the studs.

^^what he said.

or you can jump to 20/25+ mm bolt ons.

I just got in my 10mm spacers, and picked up extended studs. Everyone I spoke to advised me to get extended studs even with just 10mm spacers. Even though I’m using shank type lugs too…

I just took their advice, since Ive never run spacers before.

Hmm I need some internal drive lugs… set of 20 m12 x1.25

Yeah, 5mm is the “safe” limit, some guys will go 7mm, but that is danger zone.

The spacing that is required for a rim is all dependent on the spoke design. Look at the stock S14 5 lug wheel, the spokes are recessed in the back to allow for the brakes (as Silvia’s came with 4 piston calipers).
