on the other hand if your running bottom mount your going to sit to high plus you helmet will be touching the roof and after a day of track you’ll have neck pains. I ran my nismo recaro reclinable seats as a solid mount (eliminated that fat slider) and it was fine after but after going through that i would only go non reclinable seats.
The Recaro sliders are pretty slim, not more than an inch tall… hopefully it works, the base I’ll be making is also going to be as slim as safely possible. If not, at least I’ll have a good idea of where to position the seat for a solid mount w/o sliders.
Do all S14 guys strictly stay away from any bottom mount seats?
These would sit much lower than a reclinable such as the Torino’s since it’s a “racing seat” no?
Any specific suggested rails to use. i.e. safe/cheap?
I might be way off topic here, but i thought i saw someone write whether they thought they were real or not, dont sparco seats have a patch on the side with stock id and what not. thought i’d throw that in. sorry.
Yeah you’re probably right.
I really need to find a good informative thread on seat and mounting options for both bottom mount and side-mount “racing seats”.
For example, right now I can get a pair of Sparco Fighters, which are bottom mount, but are a one-piece bucket seat, so they will be lower than a reclinable. http://www.sparcousa.com/pseats_street.asp?id=198
Alternatively, I can get a pair of Sparco Speed’s, which are both a bottom and side-mount, but they currently have universal side-mount brackets. So would I have to weld to the floor? Are there S14 side-mount brackets that are safe?
I like the Fighters, I’ve sat in Pro 2000’s lots, and I like them (similar seat). There will also be multiple drivers, so I need some adjustability.
However, I will be using a helmet, so I need head room (i.e. side-mount).
I haven’t bought seats before, so I’m a newb and need it somewhat laid out for me…lol
