So this has been on my mind for the past few days, since they put new speed limit signs on clarence center rd/ barnaum rd. when you first turn on to barnaum from main, you will now find a 45mph speed limit sign, which there were never any on this road until this past weekend. when you are driving down the road, you will see ruffly 4 speed limit signs now on one side.
now heres the thing, when you are coming from the other direction. on the s turn on clarence center, there is a sign that says end 45 mph limit. this would in turn mean 55 mph if I’m not mistaken, until you hit that first 45 mph sign. but, when you are coming from main street, there is never a sign at all that says end 45, 55mph, nothing.
as far as im aware, a street only has one speed limit when you are driving on it? each side doesnt have its own speed limit, correct?
this is the same situation on walden ave. by the jail/corrections (wendy) its 55 mph coming from the intersection of genessee and walden. coming up to the jail it doesnt turn 45 till you get to the corner of wendy(the street), on the way toward that intersection, the road goes about a 1/4 mile past that point still at 45.
what happens if you do 55 in the area between the end 45 and the first 45 mph sign. it says end 45, but on the way back, it never tells you 55 is ok or end 45 on that side?
I have seen roads where the speed limit is different on each side of the road. That particular area has a lot more stores/roads on the one side, than the other side. Note, this road has 3 lanes on each side and a large middle divider.
this is just a back road. not some main road like that, i could understand with like businesses and etc. like you said with them all on one side, but this? im pissed they changed it, i need to drive it every day, its hard to suddenly change your driving routine from doing 60 to doing 50, just seems so much slower, even though its really not.
Going from Maple toward Millersport is 35, and the first 45 sign isn’t until after you cross Millersport. If you’re coming from Audubon on N.Forest (a 45 zone) though the first 35 sign isn’t until you cross Millersport.
So technically as you’re crossing millersport on N.Forest the speed limit is 35 going one way and 45 going the other. I don’t see how they could write you a speeding ticket for a speed zone you haven’t reached yet. They can’t expect you to be watching your rear view mirror for speed limit signs that are facing the other direction of traffic.
Clarence put speed limit signs up on all of their roads now. Salt and Strickler were never posted and now they are 45mph. Same for Clarence Center and the rest of the country roads.
i see what your saying, but thats just an intersection, so nothing to big really there. as for the clarence center one, its a good 1/4 mile to a 1/2 mile between the 45mph and the end 45mph, the other side, never says anything about going higher than 45 between that distance.
The cop can write you a ticket, but it won’t hold up in court.
The thing is,
A cop probably isn’t going to touch you if you are only doing 10 over (in a 45 zone)
But, if you are doing 56 in a 45, (11 over) and he writes you, even though you’re technically in a 55 zone, and you try and fight it, the prosecutor may drop the 11mph over ticket, but they’ll give you a 1mph over ticket, which is still 2 points.
And, I have been in driving school when there was a girl there who was doing 31 in a 30 in amherst and was cited.
like they are to stupid to realize about the other signs and how one way is one speed and the other way is another speed. how about actually doing work! lol remove signs that need to be and put new ones in where they need to be.
I swear to god, I was at maryvale school for driving school and there was a girl and guy there from amherst… I ofcourse had the highest speed of the class (woowoo) and she raised her hand for the <5mph group, she said 31 in a 30…$30 fine and driving school, and the guy was doing 37mph in a 35 zone and a $30 fine and school.
Swear to god. I would have spit in the judges face. (no i wouldn’t)
edit: I feel as if these tickets were given in conjunction with a “driving too fast for conditions” citation, they were probably driving through a garage sale street or next to a play ground
