Alright guys i know someone out there has the answer to my problem. I have never ripped the gauges apart before so I am just wondering what people have doen in the past to recalibrate there speedometer as mine is fubared going 20 and reads 80. WHat needs to be replaced?

do go too crazy before you know the problem. S13 tend to have sensor (speed) problems. My last one did. My last one usually needed to ‘warm’ up before it even worked, then sometimes not at all
Could be a number of things. The speedo itself is very easy to replace, but you’ll need to have another cluster. From the design of it, I really can’t see how something could burn out or break in the speedo itself. So it’s probably the sensor that’s giving you a problem. That’s easy to replace it’s located in the back of the tranny on the passenger side. But when you take it out, you will also drain lots and lots of tranny fluid.
Another problem could be the wiring itself. Might be touching another wire somewhere for some reason and giving you higher signal than it’s supposed to.
To fix the problem I would first start with replacing the speed sensor, if that doesn’t work, check all the wiring (unlikely, but possible) and then replace the speedo itself if necessary. (It’s held by a few tiny screws inside the console, and you can simply swap it out and put another one in)
Providing that the rear end gear ratio, and or tire size has not been altered … I also would check the speed sensor.
If by chance you need an other cluster - I have one for an 89-90 s13
