Is it an actual visual resin that coats the bottom of your car?
What exactly can it cover (just the frame ect)?
How much does it weigh once applied ?
Should I get it done professionally or just do it myself (results vs cost vs quality).
Where or how should I get it done?
May sound dumb but I really have never looked into it at all.
If you are talking about the RustStop rustproofing it is like a very thick oil / grease that they spray all over under you car and in your body panels. It works really well but the car drips for a while afterwards and you get real messy when you gotta fix something.
Wow… that stuff looks great but how much you think it will weigh once on the car and what does it make working on the bottom of the car like?(removing bolts ect)
the bottom of the car is just a thin, clear residue, not too heavy, almost like a light grease on it. It doesn’t drip because you apply it in very thin coats, which is a huge plus because coating like Schmidt’s (sp?) drip for the first few days
It’s a mixed blessing, because it’s less likely for bolts and such to rust (as badly) it’s easier to remove. Yet every bolt you touch will make any job you do underneath a mess.
That said, it’s probably the only reason the undercarriage is as solid as it is on my legacy. Can’t say the same for the body though.
Did this on a few cars when I worked at the dealership. It’s designed to mainly spray on the underside of the body/wheel wells (not everything underneath the car). If you get it on the bolts I imagine they will be a pain to get off.
The stuff is probably the messiest stuff I’ve dealt with though. If you can get it done for $100 do it…not worth doing yourself for that price.
Might also want to look into getting inside the doors and body panels done too. The stuff they spray in there is more cream colored and basically just sits in the bottom of the doors. They usually rust from the inside so this prevents that.
