what do you guys use for DOHC heads I can’t find anything locally that will work for my sr20 head
Walt, try pittsburgh crank they could do it pretty cheap I bet.
OT I still need those parts just trying to get a day off that would work with your schedule.
Get one of the ones that bolts on to the head. Ampro makes one : http://www.amprotools.net/Product_List.aspx?productid=795&partnerid=33&categoryid=5&mode=show .
Lisle also makes one that has real skinny arms to get in there: https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/p-15027-18639.aspx .
On hondas the above bolt on style works pretty good as it is what I use. Takes a little while to get good with it though.
I just don’t trust anyone to do anything for me. I would much rather spend money on the tool then I’ll be able to do it anytime I ever need to
sorry Lou I sold those mounts. you never got back to me so I assumed you
didn’t want them I still have the harness, and ecu if you want those
Nick you know where to get that ampro one? I can’t find it anywhere the closest I can find is a $140 snapon set I would like to spend less than that
where did you get yours?
Pretty sure this is where I got mine:
I cut a large slot in the side of a cheap spark plug socket with a sawzall/grinder, then used a huge c-clamp and a rag so not the ding the aluminum head…
idk it worked, but nexttime I’ll go buy the real tool
Any advance should be able to get it. When i worked there I think they were about 80-90 bucks.
Walt you might want to just get the snap on tool. Everyone I know who has done springs on an SR20 says they would use that if they had to do it over again.
It can’t be worse the a b series vtec head i think I have your tool Steve? Haha
head on or off the car? off the car, i use a air operated snap-on spring compressor. or you could chuck it up in a bench drill press, cut open a socket, and use the drill press as your compressor. obviusly you will need to support the head
you talkin to me?:dunno:
They can be a confined as b-series heads can they?:scared:
other steve aka hycomp…
ah yeah, my tools, I should have known you had it.
