Springs

I’m looking for a good set of rear springs for a 94 camaro that are good for street/strip use. I bought the car with the eibach sportline lowering springs already installed, but that is more for handling. I defiantly like the look of those springs but i’m not getting any weight transfer with them. Any suggestions?

I just got my new shocks and springs in, they were installed in no time flat and they work awesome. If anyone needs any suspension work done, welding or any work for that matter I recommend nytrus1. I’m very pleased with the work:tup:.

Dragsters don’t turn corners, and road race cars don’t run at the dragstrip. If you want your car to do both there will have to be a compromise somewhere. I’d rather have my car perform better at my intended use, than look better.

+1 Nytrus1–awesome work

I agree!

Did you go with the Eibach drag springs?

No, I decided to go with the QA-1 adjustable coil overs for the front, and a little bit stiffer shocks for the rear.

Weight transfer is a function of total weight, acceleration, CG height, and wheelbase. The only way in which springs can affect weight transfer is if they change one or more of those 4 parameters.

Perhaps more important than the amount of weight transfer is the manner in which it’s distributed on launch. The driveshaft torque is tending to unload the right rear, so it would be nice if most of the weight transfer headed towards the right rear. And, it would be better yet if the right side bias of that weight transfer is directly proportional to the driveshaft torque. You mention that you have adjustable coilovers at the front, so here is where you should start. Install a spring with a higher rate at the RF than that at the LF. If you select the proper spring rate, the rear wheel loading can remain equal regardless of driveshaft torque. To determine the effectiveness of such a setup, use a traction dyno. Details of the proper front spring rates and the traction dyno can be found at:

Well since this is back from the dead…How do you like the QA-1’s? I’m probably going to go with them or Koni’s, haven’t decided yet.

Sportlines suck there not for handling. They are more of a spring for the lowered look rather than the appropriate spring rate/height for handling.

The G2 springs designed by LG Motorsports are probably the best out of all the lowering springs out there for a 4th gen Fbody. As far as shocks for handling the custom revalved bilsteins that sam strano sells are probably best, followed by the koni yellows and then the bilstein slp kit.

What are you going for the same deal street/strip?

I went with the 275lb springs with the drag shocks in the front and they really impressed me compared to the sportlines… I only had a little while to test my new set-up out though… the motor decided to blow on me when I was on my way home that night.

Yeah basically. I could not care any less how bad my car is in the turns, I have absolutely no interest in ripping corners. Unfortunately I’m still on the stock 7.5" 10 bolt so no sticky tires for me at the track. I’m just looking for something to give my car a little lower, more aggresive looking stance while also helping my already terrible traction problems. My car kind of has that 4x4 look to it with the 17" ZR1’s. Of course, my 275 width Fusions (sp?) aren’t helping traction either.

Oh man what the hell, sorry to hear that but I remember hearing you say your doing a rebuild and some boost…

Gotcha, QA1’s seem good for drag but can get expensive, If your on a budget it seems like you could use QA1’s on the front and the Comp Engineering rear drag shocks which are cheap and work well.

I had them for a long time and the car rode on rails, no complaints here.

:word: I want my car to be decent on teh track and handle good on the street. Thats why I dont care about being in like 10s and shit…not as much fun to drive on the road.
