Hello everyone,
I will have to swap a sr in my car very soon, so I just trying to find the best possible to way to save some money.
The average ka to sr swap cost a lot, been shopping around an lots. I have a mechanical knowledge but no tools. I have installed intercooler and piping on my eagle talon a while ago and am very familiar with the process. My idea was to strip the ka motor complete, tow the car to a general mechanic, take the ka out, drop in the Sr motor, Tow the car back home and run the wiring and electrical at home by myself. The swap should be a lot cheaper.
My question, can any mechanic shop just drop in the sr motor in the 240sx?
any input on this situation will be greatly appreciated.
just rent or borrow a cherry picker…saves the trouble of towing the car all over the place…
there are some guys on the board that im sure would help out with that situation
good luck
My friends and I rent an engine hoist for $50 a day or $100 for 3 days.
Let me know if you want to use this, its much cheaper than any of the
rental places.
in the early spring i will be contacting you. that will make it much easier.
Just a little note…you won’t do the swap cheeper than 3500$ doing it all by yourself…
