Ok so heres my problem I have an S15 engine in my S14 and I am having major ecu problems and I need help.My ecu has shit the bed again its a Power FC that came with my swap and it now toast not the first time it has died.My problem is that I dont have a factory ECU to put back in but I do have a S14 S20det full swap with a blown motor…
What I need to know is can I just change the injectors,MAF,ecu, wiring harness and coil packs to convert my motor to an S14??
Please help me I am so pissed at this car it just came out of the body shop today and now this
no idea, your best bet, seeing as how few people here have S15 SR experience, would be to lay the S14 harness over teh S15 and figure out which plugs are going to give you problems (ie: different) and go from there…?
Well I got ripping shit apart and just figured out that the coil packs are completly diffrent so I guess my ansewer is no you cant do it unless you change the whole head.
no it wont work the s15 sr is most liekly configured different electronically according to the mechanics hence it wont work well, jsut wait for an s15 ecu dont rust imo s15 is betetr than s14 probably anyway
Well I got to thinking that my problem might be only the valve cover I might be able to swap valve covers and use the S14 coil packs.
electronicaly they dont seem to be any diffrent I mean I am changing the wiring harness, ecu,MAF,coilpacks, ignitor chip and injectors.all the sensors seem to be the same.
I think the main diffrence in between the motors is the turbo, ignition design, injectors and some internals.the motor still has all the same design as the S14 just with some upgrades.
This is a pretty big learning curve for me I mean I have never treid anything like this before and it seems nobody else has either.
The cefiro and r32 have completely different harnesses, sensors and ecu’s but if you fallow the pinouts and swap all the sensors it fires up no problem…Thats fro running a r32 loom in the a31. I assume the s14/s15 can be done similerly.
i think you all seem to be missing the fact he has a complete s14 swap that he had already wired, if you swap out every part of the s15 electronics for s14 it should work. the biggest differences in the s14 to 15 were the coilpack set up and the turbo, the s14 sr stock ecu should be ok with the better turbo as long as all the rest of the s14 parts are used on the motor, i don’t belive theres likely to be any other serious differences that would stop you from using the s14 sr harness and electics as long as you can fit those s14 coil packs etc
or he can just look at the 2 pin outs, use the s14 ecu and rewire it so the coil packs ect work, it’s not that hard. make sure the wires go from the correct pin to correct sensor. Done and done, te coil packs wont matter if he wires it up correctly.
Shit i’ve used a toyota ignitor on my rb for a few days, it’s just wiring, wattage and resistance long as it’s the same you can use any part and make it work.
This can be done, albeit lots of stuff must be swapped over.
The S15 doesnt have an ignitor so you must use the S14 wiring harness (you cant repin it as there are different options on the S15, much easier to swap the entire harness), the valve cover and coil on plugs must be swapped over from the S15, injectors must be swapped, MAF must be swapped, I think thats it but I could be mistaken.
Why go through all this trouble, I would buy a used S15 ECU and run that. The car may run a little different with the stock S14 ECU maps using an S15 turbo and who knows what other mods youve got.
Well I looked at it last night and it cant be done unless you change the head. The problem is with the holes for the coil packs the S14 ones are huge and the S15 ones are small other then that it could be done with ease.
The reason I dont just get a stock ecu is because I dont have the S15 MAF and I have a brand new Apexi power FC on the way I just dont know when I am actualy going ot get it.
Well I did the swap and it runs but I have some problems now.
My air bag light is flashing,My engine light doesnt come on at all even before you start the car and I have no tach.
