My driveshaft wont go all the way into the sr20det redtop tranny, Ive tried hitting with a hammer and it went in further but not all the way, but got stuck in so i hammered it back out. im stuck and need son’s help.

Ive noticed that 2" at most of the shiny driveshaft is exposed coming out of the tranny that looks like it should be in further. I was told that im just missing a shroud off the tranny.
Ive had it like that for years with no leaks or failures.
yeah the littel dust cover on the end mush have been removed.
