Sr20det Wiring/starter problems

Hey guys, its coming closer to spring so once again im trying to get my SR running.

Recently my ecu was burnt so i replaced it along with a harness. The harness’s ecu plug was broken so i took off the old plug from my old harness and installed it. Also put on the dash connector, but didnt have to do the power interface because it seemed to have been already done. Now when i went to plug in the ecu into the harness, the plug goes all the way down on one side but on the other side it sits like a pen tip high so there is a bit of a angle on the connection, not completely flush. in terms of connections on the motor everything was connected except the IACV, Knocksensor, and O2 sensor. I was just trying to get it to fire.

When i put the key in the car didnt do nothing just fuel pump came on, and the all i could hear was a click. No it wasn’t a click like if ur car didn’t have enough battery power, more of a relay click.

Im just begging for someone to help me because since the accident with my integra i have no ride and would rather spend money on this car rather than another car.

Thanks
Randy Rashid

Unplug the ecu harness and reattach it properly. It needs to sit fully flush. That is why the relay keeps clicking.

ye but it wont go in? i just installed the plug so what maybe wires are not seated properly? Also i was told for the starter to turn u don’t need the ecu.

That would be what she said

Oh and agreed that you have to fit the plug flush. Could be corrosion or something blocking it or the wires not seated properly. The relay will click until you get that done properly. Remember that alot of signal voltages are low and not nearly enough to bridge even the smallest gap in connections so they gotta be snug.

you must have bent a couple of electrical pins in the ecu.

take a look.

they have to be perfectly straight. or it wont go in.

“thats what she said”

dont worry about the starter yet, thats another problem

no but like the relay doesn’t keep clicking. it clicks once every time i turn the key all the way off and then all the way to the start position … and that’s it, ? should i still fix ecu first?

I really appreciate all the help!

Of course. Figure out why the connector wont fit flush. Take care of that problem first.

Next would be the starter.

update: so i got it to turn over was a relay under the dash sticking i gave it a good hit and it turns over, but no start. I guess cuz the battery is weak, and the iacv, and knock sensor are not connected.

also i noticed the jumper cables i used to jump the car the negative side was really warm whys that?

how about the ecu connector??

you probably have low gauge booster wire. thats why it heats up quicker

its a pretty damn thick wire… and the ecu connector it sits almost flush

so you’ve boosted it. cranking but no start?

ye… i don’t no if i grounded the car properly i put the ground on the alt bracket but i didn’t sand it or nothing. I have a greddy intake plenum so i dont no if i grounded my injectors properly either.

it doesn’t matter. just hook up pos to pos. neg to neg on the battery post

no i mean the actual ground wire from battery to ground the car.

wait you grounded it to a painted surface without sanding? or was it clear of paint and dirt cause that should make a differance. And if the starter is moving it shouldn’t matter cause the ground would have to work for the starter to work.

its a painted surface.

ok guys… im getting 11-12 volts on all connectors but the injector connectors im getting like 1-1.5:|

uh… you need to sand that otherwise its not grounding anything. You know the paint is an insulator and blocks the connection between the metal lol. Unless the bolt used to ground is perfectly on the metal (ie. no corrosion) there is no connection. Deffinetly sand underneath the wire to make a good connection.

As for the injectors, are all of them giving you that reading?

well i tested the first two and got that reading

maybe one getting stuck open? i dunno sounds sketchy that two would be so low.

just checked over all four injectors are at 1-1.5 volts… i have no idea why everything else checks out. Maybe the ecu connector is causing this
