Im a little rusty as to what sensors this motor has but I imagine it will have some kind of crank/cam position sensor. A dead fuel pump wont throw a CEL, only sensory euipment that the computer obtans its prameters rom wll hrow a CEL. I would suggest trying to read the code with a scanner (im assuming the key dance does not work with 240’s) if the crank/cam sensor goes the vehicle will just stop running. The computer will not power the coil/dizzy or it will cut fuel or sometimes both. The end result being a motor that will crank till the cows come home but will not run. From what you have said, this is where I would start… Can you be more spesfic about how it died and what happens when you try to start it?
history
got deck installed last week because the harness was cut and i had no idea which wire was which.
2 days later my fuses for rear tail lights and interior lights failed.
yesterday while listening to music, i noticed the dash clock light failing slightly as the bass pumped from the tunes… alternator???
think it could be an elec problem?
when it died (or was in process of dying) rpm and speed gauges where going all over the place and i heard a strong ‘buzzing’ from door speakers…
tried to start her this morning and got a hesitation with a crank but no catch…
motors shaking like a mofo too…
STUCK!
That is the EXACT same thing that happened to my s14 sr20, right down to the stereo work.
I am pretty sure I need an Alternator.
ok so she didnt just quit out of the blue. if you suspect the alternator…here’s what you do. loosen a battery terminal so that it can be eaisly removed but still make good contact. boost you car, start your car. take off the booster cables. Car should still be running, pull of one battery terminal. If the car still runs then it is working but perhaps not to full capacity. If it dies, then the alternator is toast. Other than that, looks like you have some fun times ahead of you. Grab yourself some tools and a wiring diagram and happy hunting!!
alternator had exact same problem in my 95 subs + small alternator, means your voltage regulator is gonna die fast. Get a capacitor and a quest alternator, very good upgrade.
i dont think its the alternator cuz its not starting with a boost…
fuel pressure is fine…
wuuut else?
