Start em young...

Glad to see you starting them out correctly - none of that teacupping crap.

Very nice on getting them started young, if possible get them away from the cup and saucer method as soon as possible.

It is a good thing this did not take place in NY  as it is against the law due to the firearm being a pistol.

Careful what you post online when it comes to gun activities.

I think they still teach that for revolvers, though. Weaver FTW.

Actually in NYS as long as the people using the pistol are under 21 and the permit holder is right there it’s perfectly legal.

Right, I always understood it as long as the permit holder is in control of the situation another person is allowed to be shown how to handle and fire a pistol.

NY Penal law section 265.20
7-e. Possession and use of a pistol or revolver, at an indoor or outdoor pistol range located in or on premises owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization organized for conservation purposes or to foster proficiency in small arms or at a target pistol shooting competition under the auspices of or approved by an association or organization described in paragraph 7-a of this subdivision for the purpose of loading and firing the same by a person at least fourteen years of age but under the age of twenty-one who has not been previously convicted of a felony or serious offense, and who does not appear to be, or pose a threat to be, a danger to himself or to others; provided however, that such possession shall be of a pistol or revolver duly licensed to and shall be used under the immediate supervision, guidance and instruction of, a person specified in paragraph seven of this subdivision.

You just contradicted your previous post. You need to put all the sections together not just pick and choose it all.

It is all crap, but still gotta follow the laws if you are going to post pics. Esp if the wife did not have a permit.

  1. Possession, at an indoor or outdoor shooting range for the purpose
of loading and firing, of a rifle or shotgun, the propelling force of
which is gunpowder by a person under sixteen years of age but not under
twelve, under the immediate supervision, guidance and instruction of (a)
a duly commissioned officer of the United States army, navy, air force,
marine corps or coast guard, or of the national guard of the state of
New York; or (b) a duly qualified adult citizen of the United States who
has been granted a certificate as an instructor in small arms practice
issued by the United States army, navy, air force or marine corps, or by
the adjutant general of this state, or by the national rifle association
of America, a not-for-profit corporation duly organized under the laws
of this state; or (c) a parent, guardian, or a person over the age of
eighteen designated in writing by such parent or guardian who shall have
a certificate of qualification in responsible hunting, including safety,
ethics, and landowner relations-hunter relations, issued or honored by
the department of environmental conservation; or (d) an agent of the
department of environmental conservation appointed to conduct courses in
responsible hunting practices pursuant to article eleven of the
    environmental conservation law.

Gotta put it all together. If this had taken place at a range with an NRA instructor it would be fine or possibly just a parent with the child at an approved range. Otherwise it is illegal in NY, hence my previous post. Am I still grinding your gears?

I am not here to piss on the OP, just make sure he knows what he is posting pics of. I had to take a test on this not to long ago and when it comes to the topic of kids, permits, pistols, ranges it is all a huge pita.

lol that had nothing to do with you. It was mostly about this huge gun nut of a guy who I was in the army with. I met up with him this weekend and he was going on and on. I was shooting all weekend so I heard it so many different stories from different people. Mostly AWB stuff. They would all shit when they saw my prebans.

FYI the section you pulled was the shotguns and rifle section. I guess I kind of did contradict myself for what I wrote. I wasn’t familiar with the earlier part about what qualified as an actual range. But I completely agree on the fact that almost all of NYS law when it comes to firearms in general is a huge PITA. The amount of shit you have to read just to try and stay “right”. Always makes me cringe and SMH.

I just picked up a Walther P22 for my wife to shoot with. I also grabbed 1,000 rounds of .22 from a gun show for $30 and 1,000 rounds of 9mm for $140.
