once a company didn’t take states for over 6 months… i worked out of new york… i owned tens of thousands of dollars… another company set my exemption to 2 instead of 0… i ended up paying again. it all sucks. when you get hired, make sure they take state / local and that they exempt you properly.

What do you mean exempt you properly?
