I’m a fan of pets.
Dogs, mainly.
But there comes a point where an animal is a pest/nuissance.
People have pet rats, lizards, snakes.
People that don’t have them as pets, and have lots of unwanted ones, see them as pests.
You exterminate pests.
We’re not talking about killing someone’s beloved pet cat here, they are feral/stray cats.
Organization the SPCA sent me to charger $20 a cat to fix them, give them some shots, and clip their ears for identification (I guess so they don’t fix them again?).
That’s pretty reasonable but they’re booked for a few months and doesn’t really solve the problem, only stops it from growing quicker. If they don’t trap all the cats in the neighborhood it’s just going to keep getting worse (of course on a smaller scale). At this point it seems like my only humane/can’t get in trouble route though.
So you’ll be out $140 and you still won’t have solved the problem short term…

Exactly, and probably more than that as I’m sure the actual number of cats is 10-20…that 7 number were just how many were in my driveway one night. I replied to them asking if there is anyway to relocate. I should have used a fake e-mail and replied that .22 rounds are cheaper than $20 a piece.
I’ll give them a call. Looks like they don’t mess with feral cats (they point you to a group that does the trap and neuter thing) but maybe they’ll have another suggestion.
