Okay, so my neighbors have been hinting that my Audi’s too loud when I leave in the mornings for work. I’m on good terms with my neighbors and they haven’t been bitching at me for the Eclipse all that much. I can see where they’re comin’ from, early in the morning, when its cold, my car sounds like a V8. I LOVE that angry noise it produces, but I’m not the only one hearin’ it. I’m thinking of doing something about it. My idea was this: to have Dave at Inline make me a new piece for the rear. I was thinking of trying to find the resonator and a pair of mufflers from an RS6. I think the exhaust on that is large enough in diamater(even stock) not to restrict flow, but it should bring the noise down significantly. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I really want to keep my downpipes open, like they are now, though. I don’t want to have to redo the entire exhaust either, I think it came out very nice.

bought my house in oct 07. had the evo and evo only. exhaust was full 3" no cat, no res, one lil stright thru muffler. was loud to say the least.
one morning at 6:30 during jan 08 i went outside to pullmy car out the garage and go to work. i see a cop and i ask if i can help her with anything. mind u its this hot 24 y/o women. hot!!! she asks if my name is tony, i say no. tells me there is a complaint from #xx steet xxxxx . i say ok. so she then asks me to start my car so she can hear it. i start it and explain to her that its cold out and the governer on the car is going to keep the revs high so it will be loud for a min. then i tell her i only let it run for 2 mins tops then i leave. she tells me thats its not that bad and goes on her way telling me not to rev the motor ect ect
fast forward 2 months. i go outside to start my car and i see another cop. “officer may i help u?” “o im just going to monitor your exhaust.” haha now im thinking great, here comes a ticket. so i pull out and pull away super slow shifting at like 1500 keeping it so quiet. he flashes his lights and i stop. pulls next to me tells me im fine, its not that bad and as long as i do that every morning im ok. tells me dont rev it ect ect.
so far im thinking HA! asshole neighbors can suck my poop sauce! then about 2 months later (about april may time frame) i go home and there is a message on my machine. its the chief of colonie police. hahahha omg r u fucking kidding me!! tells me to call him about the exhaust situation. so i do, we chat for about 30 mins about fam, this that and the other thing. then tells me he would rather me talk to him (neighbor) face to face then have to come down there and settle this himself. i agree and say i wish he would have come to my door in the first place. so he calls my neighbor and tells him to call me.
well… he calls and i tell him that im not going to talk about this over the phone but meet me outside and we can talk about this face to face. his responce was…“um… r u sure?” ahhaha
so i get out there and he is mad reluctant to like get close to me and talk. its weird. then proceeds to tell me that his kids are “DEATHLY SCARED” of my car and wake up everymorning screaming bloody murder. i giggle and say “haha sure”. then tells me he is getting it left and right from the wife because of my car. hahaha at this point im thinking what a fucking pussy this guy is. so basicly i tell him im not getting rid of the car nor quieting it down any, but that i had had plans to get a daily driver and i will keep the evo as a weekend warrior. he agrees with me and we go about our merry way.
get a daily driver and the muffler falls off!! ahahahahha so now i have a daily driver (2000 vr6) with no muffler and it sounds awesome!!!
now i have a vette and plan on getting long pipes with electronic cut outs hahaha! i cant wait to see how they react to that. assholes!!!
long story short, if u have issues with someone, confront them first b4 calling the cops 4-5times.

vadim, i don’t think your exhaust is that loud. i’d personally leave it alone if it was me. afterall, you paid to get it built/ installed already. just seems like a waste of $ for some assholes complaining about something so petty.
yea, like i said, i LOVE the angry track car sound of it. especially when u get on it. it has a bit of a drone at highway speeds, so maybe i could cut that down as well? i AM trying to go for SQ. laughs tho, i have no problems, personally, i just crank it and the exhaust tone dissapears :lol
