I think its great someone finally blew this up in the air,
I hope more officials read this article and take it into consideration.

^^ awesome article
although i know MANY ppl on this forum will say it will never happen, the govt needs our money and etc.
i think maybe one day people will shout and yell for an outlet for all these car enthusiasts.
even though it seems like it will never happen, you never know
crazy things have changed like the definition of marriage…so anything is possible in this world
Sounds too cool for the Toronto gov’t to go ahead with.
I think that’d be great, provided it was very centrally located and highly affordable.
Knowing the Ontario though, anyone that goes would get recorded and have their insurance dropped, and get handed “Improper Muffler” tickets on the way out.
It’s a shame, because as a side note I happen to love our city otherwise.
It’d be good for everyone if they could do it.
P.S. Reading this gives me a lot of respect for that poor guy that lost his loved ones and is trying to put a positive twist on the tragedy, by aiming to assist in avoiding similar accidents.
“We did the same thing here about a year ago. We got an open track Saturday night, it cost $10 to race all night long,” he said, adding that the first night drew around 150 cars and that within weeks nearly 300 were clamouring for spots." - Robin Doolittle STAFF REPORTER
That would be super affordable if it was anywhere near that, in terms of cost.

Realistically, the only problem here is that there are lots of residential areas, followed by schools, businesses, shopping malls, etc.
All the huge areas will most likely be North of the city. And even then, all the huge open areas are already bought and will have houses built on them, office buildings, etc. There won’t be able to be a race track built in the core of Toronto, because then people will complain about all the loud sounds/noises, etc.
keele and sheppard…worked just fine…
BC is doing it why not Toronto? I go out some times to the racing spots and to the track, and I have to say on some days there are more guy and girls racing behind the warehouses. Some of the people that street races have never been to the track or know were it is. If they do build a track or block off a section of a road that’s not in use to much within Toronto and hold the events there. The government will be amaze of the out come.
On a other note: WHY the hell does the cops/opp pull guys over when they are going to the track!!! You want us to go to the track, but you still pulling us over.
Hopefully they will, but somehow I doubt it. I read through the comments that star readers made, and I have to admit, some were very intelligent and thought out. But some just reeked of hickish ignorance.
OMG 50 TOO HIGH! MAKE IT 5 OVER! AND BREAK THEIR CAR, KNEE CAPS AND RAPE THEM IN THE BUM! OMGBBQ!!1one
Obviously exaggerated, but there was definitely a lot of ignorance and misplaced anger.
But there were great issues brought up:
Speed limits on highways are too fackin low! 100km/h is retarded.
The no appeals thing is utter BS.
My favourite --> Punish SLOW driving assholes! Biggest danger on the road easily. I was obeying the speed limit (more or less anyway ;)) last night, up until I noticed that the asshat infront of me was driving 80, and I had to speed up a lot to merge in with the rest of traffic in the next lane to avoid him/her.
I know know 2 places!!! Downview Park and the other is my spot, not telling!!! lol.
your giving the government too much credit in terms of forward thinking.
They have already proved they are not interested in solving the problem, they are more interested in revenue, and the guise of problem solving…
^^^ Correct it will always come down to money in their hands. No matter what we are told or think.
I think everyone should voice their opinions here ^ instead of on the forum, where the officials will never be able to see and hear it from our perspectives.
^^ I agree.
Even if the government did it, it would have to be really cheap for most to come out. A lot of people street race because they spent all the money they would have spent on going to the track to modify their (or their parents’) car. However, the government would never do this anyway because too many would disagree with the idea. In some people’s minds, it would be like telling the government that there’s too many people doing crack on the streets, so we should make a safe place for them to do it in.
Is’nt there an airport dowtown thats not being used? Why dont they just put the track and there and instead of not making any money there they can charge people to race and make money off of us…I think alot of people would show up.
But I doubt they will do this.
don’t you need to take the ferry to go the the toronto central airport
I agree with Darian. Why the fuck would the government spend millions of dollars for maybe 50 - 100 regular cars that would go to the track when they can be making money off people who speed. 50kmh = $300+ ticket.
It just makes no sense. The government does not give a shit about us. The only time it looks like they do is when it comes to election time.
And it’s true. Most kids would say that going to the track is way too expensive. Think about it… people download songs and movies because it’s convenient and it’s free.
People street race cause well… it’s convenient at that time and they don’t plan on going to a track to begin with.
The new law varies from $2,000 - $10,000 (along with of course the 7-day license suspension and 7-day+ car seizure).
Which only further proves the point of nobody cares about building tracks and taking into consideration the love that people hold for their cars and modifications, as long as they all have nice fat wallets at the end of the day, why would they build a track? With $10 track time id be there everyday. But untill politicians can think past $$, street racing will never stop. Do they ever even ask the people who are involved if they know of the location of a track or that you can book time there? I would bet money that 8/10 of them have never even been informed that you could. Hell, i didnt know that track time was so easily accessable until i joined this forum.
Also, if most of the people that have been posting genuinely wanna come to the track. My track day on October 14th would have been filled up a lot quicker.
Like I said, people are too scared to bring their cars to the track.
It’s all about justified risk, the G will never see a track as long as I own it, but I fully intend to buy another 240 because I miss lapping.
The same thing applies to heavily modded 240s as well, if you’ve put 20 grand into your car, you become real iffy on losing it, this is why when I used to track my S13, the other S chassis there were cheap and mildly modded like mine.
The government will not build a track because most of the reported street racing accidents are caused be people who don’t give a shit about racing. They just want to go fast in their Audi’s. So even if a track is built it’s not going to stop people from crashing their parents fast cars.
